Schaumburg, Ill. – The Dominican University baseball team hosted Division Street rivals Concordia Chicago, for their second series at Wintrust Field.
Game 1 Results:

How it Happened:
-Dominican threatened in the bottom of the first inning getting the bases loaded, but left all three runners stranded after a double-play to end the inning.
-DU found themselves in the same situation in the bottom of the second inning with the bases loaded but were unable to get that clutch hit in back-to-back innings.
-The Stars cracked the scoreboard in the fourth with Junior
Zach Helein hitting an RBI single to right field that brought home Senior
Braiden Galvin.
-Concordia Chicago took the lead in the top of the 8
th scoring 3 runs on 3 hits.
-Dominican tied the game up in their half of the 8
th inning with Sophomore
Ty Phillips hitting a 2 RBI single to left field scoring Senior
CJ Kalekas, and Junior
Matthew Earley.
-DU and CUC went into extra innings with the Cougars only getting a hit and being shut down after the hit.
-Dominican got some two-out magic in their half of the 10
th inning with back-to-back hit-by pitches, one by Phillips, and the game-winning hit by a pitch by Helein.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Matthew Hannafin was dominant on the hill this afternoon going 7.1 innings only giving up 4 hits on 3 strikeouts.
-Sophomore
Ty Phillips led the Stars going 3-4 with a walk, an HBP, and 2 RBIs in the game.
-Senior
Braiden Galvin went 2-3 with 2 walks, and a run scored.
-Junior
Zach Helein went 1-4 with a walk, an HBP, and 2 RBIs.

How it Happened:
-CUC struck first, in the top of the first scoring a run on two hits.
-The Cougars doubled their lead in the second scoring a run on no hits.
-Concordia Chicago exploded in the 4
th inning scoring 3 runs on 5 hits.
-CUC continued to roll scoring 2 runs on 2 hits in the 5
th inning, making the score 7-0 in favor of the Cougars.
-Concordia Chicago added to their lead in the 6
th scoring 3 runs on 3 hits.
Shining Stars:

Michael Christopher went 1-1 for DU before leaving the game with an injury.

What's Next:
The Dominican University baseball team record moves to 10-7 on the year and 3-1 in conference play. The Stars will head on the road for back-to-back conference tests. The first one will be Saturday, March 29
th at Concordia University of Wisconsin to face off against the Falcons. The first pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
