Winter Haven, Fla. – Dominican University Baseball was back in action at the RussMatt Invitational against the University of Dubuque.
Results:
Dominican: 5

How it Happened:
-DU would explode for three runs in the top of the 1
st inning, with Graduate Student
Grayson Downing scoring on an error, an RBI single from Junior
Niko Krecu, and another RBI single from Sophomore
Alex Garcia.
-Dubuque would rattle off four runs in the bottom of the 2
nd, making the score 3-4.
-The score would be 3-6 in the bottom of the 5
th after a Dubuque home run.
-Dubuque then extended their lead to 3-8 in the bottom of the 6
th inning.
-The Stars would claw back with two runs in the top of the 7
th after G. Downing and Senior
CJ Kalekas scored on an error.
-Dominican's offense would be stymied for the rest of the contest, and the Stars would fall by a final of 5-8.
-Dominican finished with 5 hits and 3 stolen bases in the defeat.
Shining Stars:
-Graduate Student
Grayson Downing went 1-4 at the plate with a walk and two stolen bases.
-Junior
Niko Krecu was 1-4 with an RBI.
-Sophomore
Alex Garcia finished 1-4 with an RBI.
