Winter Haven, Fla. – Dominican University Softball was looking to extend their four-game winning streak on Thursday with another doubleheader against Emmanuel College and Simmons University.

How it Happened:
-The Stars would strike first after a fielder's choice scored Freshman
Isabella Olmos in the top of the 1
st.
-DU would extend their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the 2
nd after a triple from Freshman
Sara Cornell scored Senior
Gillian Czubernat, followed by Cornell reaching home on a wild pitch.
-The score was 6-0 after the bottom of the 3
rd after a sacrifice fly from Freshman
Raegyn Davis scored Olmos. Junior
Leilani Guzman then scored on an error, and a Cornell single to left brought in Czubernat.
-The Stars would tack on another run in the bottom of the 4
th after Senior
Lili Santoyo knocked a single to left, scoring Sophomore
Charlize Gonzalez from 1
st.
-Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall hit a solo shot to left to make the score 8-0 in the bottom of the 6
th, ending the game on a mercy rule.

Rhiannon Rubio combined to pitch 6 scoreless innings and only allowed 3 hits.

Sara Cornell went 3-3 at the plate, including an RBI triple. Cornell added another RBI and a run scored.

How it Happened:
-Dominican got on the board first in the top of the 2
nd, which started with a double from Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall, who was brought home after a single from Senior
Hanna Voegtle.
-The Stars would extend their lead to 2-0 in the top of the 3
rd inning after Senior
Lili Santoyo scored on a fielder's choice.
-Santoyo would then knock a single to left field in the top of the 4
th, scoring Freshman
Isabella Olmos, giving DU a 3-0 lead.
-In the top of the 6
th, Olmos would reach base on an error, and Voegtle would score on the play, giving the Stars a 4-0 advantage.
-The Stars would see out the win by a final of 4-0.
-Senior
Emma Woodhouse pitched a complete game for DU, only allowing 5 hits and collected 6 strikeouts en route to the win.

What's Next:
Dominican University Softball improves to 6-2 on the season and extends their win streak to six games. The Stars will wrap up their trip to Florida with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 8
th. The first game will see DU take on Trine University at 8:00 a.m. CT, with the second game starting at 10:15 a.m. CT against the University of Mount Union.
