Plymouth, Wis. – Dominican University Baseball is back on the road for a doubleheader against Lakeland University on Tuesday.
Game 1 Results:
Lakeland: 8
Dominican: 4

How it Happened:
-Lakeland would strike first in the bottom of the first inning and take a 1-0 lead.
-In the top of the third inning, Junior
Niko Krecu would tie the game with a solo home run.
-The Muskies would answer back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 3-1 game.
-Lakeland then added a 4
th run in the bottom of the fifth.
-Freshman
Marco Stawski hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning, cutting the Lakeland lead to 1.
-The Muskies would extend their lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth.
-DU would hang around, with Junior
Matthew Earley hitting a solo shot in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 5-4.
-Lakeland then added 3 more runs in the bottom of the seventh.
-The Stars would fall by a final of 8-4 in Game 1.
-Dominican had 11 hits and 2 errors in the loss.
Shining Stars:

Matthew Earley and Junior

Marco Stawski had his first collegiate home run in the defeat.

Game 2 Results:
Dominican: 15

How it Happened:
-DU would start Game 2 strong with a two-run home run by Junior
Tyler Johnson in the top of the third inning.
-Lakeland would get a run back in the bottom of the third, making it 2-1.
-Junior
Zach Helein then had a base-clearing 3 RBI double in the top of the fourth inning, giving the Stars a 5-1 lead.
-Junior
Matthew Earley would homer to bring Helein home and extend the Dominican lead to 7-1.
-In the top of the seventh inning, Senior
Ryan Schmidt would single to left and score Junior
Niko Krecu, making the DU lead 8-1. Schmidt would then score on a passed ball later in the inning.
-Helein stole a run for the Stars in the top of the eighth inning after scoring on a wild pitch, making the score 10-1 in favor of Dominican.
-The Muskies clawed back a run in the bottom of the eighth.
-Freshman
Marco Stawski hit his second home run of the day in the top of the ninth, followed by a base-clearing double by Sophomore
Aidan Groberski.
-With the bases loaded, Schmidt would get walked, bringing Groberski home, making the score 15-2.
-Dominican would claim the 15-2 victory and split the series with Lakeland. The 15 runs DU posted is the most in a win since March 30th, 2024, against St. Norbert.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Zach Helein was 1-4 with a double and 3 RBIs.
-Sophomore
Aidan Groberski had a pinch-hit 3 RBI double.

CJ Kalekas got the start in Game 2, pitching 6 full innings while only allowing 4 hits and an earned run.

Dominican University Baseball moves to 11-10 on the year and 4-4 in conference play. The Stars will be back at Wintrust Field on Saturday, April 5
th for Alumni Day. First pitch for Game 1 of the doubleheader will be at 12:00 p.m.
