Schaumburg, Ill. – Dominican University Baseball was back at Wintrust Field for their second and third straight games at home.
Game 1 Results:

How it Happened:
-Starting pitcher Freshman
Ethan Buckner got himself in a jam in the top of the first inning, with the bases loaded with only one out. Buckner got back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.
-Dominican used the momentum from getting out of the jam to score a run on a sacrifice fly to right field that brought home Sophomore
Ty Phillips.
-Senior
Braiden Galvin lifted his first collegiate homerun to left center field to make the score 2-0 in favor of DU.
-The Stars made it three straight innings of scoring with Freshman
Marco Stawski hitting a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Junior
Matthew Earley.
-Dominican added two more runs in the bottom of the 5
th inning with Earley hitting an RBI double to left field scoring Junior
Zach Helein. Junior
Niko Krecu followed it up with his own RBI double that brought home Earley.
-The score remained 5-0 until the bottom of the 8
th inning until Senior
Gavin Zappe hit DU's third sacrifice fly of the game to right field bringing home Galvin.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Braiden Galvin notched player of the game going 2-4 with his first collegiate homerun, a triple, an RBI, and 2 runs scored.
-Junior
Zach Helein went 3-4 with a run scored.

Niko Krecu found his bat going 2-4 with an RBI and a double.
-Junior
Matthew Earley continued swinging a hot bat going 1-2 with 2 walks, a double, an RBI, a stolen base, and 2 runs scored.
-Freshman
Ethan Buckner started on the hill for the Stars and went 7 scoreless innings picking up 5 strikeouts and only allowing 6 hits.
-Senior
Spencer Anton came in relief to finish the game and did not allow a hit in his 2 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts.

- The Stars continued the momentum from game one to the second game getting a run in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single to right field by Senior
Quinton Schwartz, scoring Junior
Zach Helein.
-Dominican doubled their lead in the third with Junior
Niko Krecu hitting an RBI single to center field that scored Junior
Matthew Earley.
-DU added their third run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with Senior
Ryan Schmidt hitting a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Schwartz.
-The Stars held their 3-0 lead into the top of the 9
th inning with senior starting pitcher
CJ Kalekas on the hill. Kalekas got the three-outs that he needed to secure the complete game shutout against WLC.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
CJ Kalekas improved his record to 4-2 on the season, going 9 scoreless innings and picking up 9 strikeouts in the complete game shutout. The senior only allowed 4 total hits in the game.

Quinton Schwartz led the Stars offensively going 3-4 with an RBI, a run scored, and a double.

Matthew Earley went 2-4 with a run scored and a triple.

Dominican University Baseball improves to 14-16 and now holds a 3-game winning streak, with all three wins at Wintrust Field. The Stars will be right back in action Wednesday night when NACC opponent Aurora University heads to Wintrust Field for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
