Rosemont, Ill. – The Dominican University Softball team hosted the Regents of Rockford University on Tuesday night.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 5
Rockford: 0
How it Happened:
-In the top of the second inning Senior
Emma Woodhouse recorded a strikeout, but this strikeout was not just any other strikeout. This was Woodhouse's 300
th strikeout in a Stars uniform.
-Dominican got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning with Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall reaching on a bunt that was thrown into right field by the pitcher. Junior
Leilani Guzman scored from second base. Diaz Randall would then get herself in an intentional run down in between first and second base that allowed Freshman Tamiah Jefferson to score from third base. -This making the score 2-0 in favor of DU.
-The Stars added three more runs in the 5
th inning on three hits and a Rockford error. Freshman
Isabella Olmos reached on an error by the second basemen that brought around Senior
Liliana Santoyo to score. Junior
Ryley Davis brought in the second run of the inning with an RBI single that scored Olmos. Freshman
Raegyn Davis followed her older sister with an RBI triple to right field that scored Sophomore
Alyssa Craig.
-Sophomore
Kyleigh Aasen came into the game in the 7
th and the sophomore closed the door on the Regents in game one.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Emma Woodhouse improved her record to 12-4 in the circle on the season. Woodhouse collected 7 strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched and not allowing a run.
-Freshman
Raegyn Davis brought the offense for DU going 2-3 with an RBI and a triple.
-Junior
Ryley Davis went 1-3 with an RBI.
-Senior
Liliana Santoyo went 1-3 with a run scored.

Dominican: 2
How it Happened:
-Rockford got on the board in the top of the first inning scoring a run on two hits and two Dominican errors.
-RU added a second run on two hits in the top of the second inning.
-The Regents made it three straight innings of scoring in the top of the third by scoring two runs on two hits and a DU error.
-The Stars cut the Rockford lead in half with Freshman
Madisen Butler hitting an 2 RBI double that scored Junior's
Ryley Davis and
Paytin Salfi.
-Dominican went into the bottom of the 7
th inning facing a 4-2 deficit but DU failed to make a real threat in the inning.
Shining Stars:
-Freshman
Madisen Butler went 1-3 with 2 RBIs, and a double.
-Freshman
Rhiannon Rubio came in relief and went 4.1 innings pitched and collected 6 strikeouts.

What's Next:
Dominican University Softball moves to 22-8 on the season 13-3 in the NACC and 7-3 at home. The Stars will be right back in action Saturday afternoon with their second series at Triton College. The Stars will host the Eagles of Edgewood College with a first pitch at 12:00 p.m.
