Stars Stay Hot at Aurora University

Aurora, Ill. – The Dominican University Softball team headed to Aurora University this afternoon for their second doubleheader of the weekend.

Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 9
 Aurora: 0

How it Happened:
-The scoring got started in the top of the second inning with Junior Paytin Salfi hitting an RBI single that scored Freshman Isabella Olmos giving DU the 1-0 lead.
-It was a pitcher's duel until the 6th inning when the Stars broke the game open scoring 5 runs on 4 hits in the inning.
-The first run of the inning came off the bat of Freshman Raegyn Davis hitting an RBI single to left field that scored Senior Liliana Santoyo. Freshman Kayla Amormino scored on the second run of the inning on a ball that was dropped by the centerfielder that came off the bat of Junior Ryley Davis. Salfi brought in her second of the game with an RBI single to right field that once again scored Olmos. Sophomore Kailee Diaz Randall hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Freshman Tamiah Jefferson. The final run of the inning came off the bat of Senior Hanna Voegtle on a groundball to the second basemen, who scored Junior Leilani Guzman.
-Dominican wanted more in the top of the 7th scoring 3 more runs on 5 hits. The first run was a solo homerun by Rae. Davis, her first in her young collegiate career. Salfi continued swinging a hot bat bringing in her third RBI of the game. Senior Gillian Czubernat scored Salfi on an RBI single to left field.
-Senior Emma Woodhouse started in the circle for Dominican and threw her second straight complete-game shutout. The senior picked up 2 strikeouts in her 7 innings and only allowed 4 hits.

Shining Stars:
-Senior Emma Woodhouse improved her record to 7-3 in the circle this season.
-Junior Paytin Salfi was one of the big factors of the Dominican offense in game one going 4-4 with 3 RBIs and a run scored
-Freshman Isabella Olmos has continued to shine for DU going 4-4 with 3 runs scored and 3 doubles in the game.
-Freshman Raegyn Davis went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, a run scored, and hit her first collegiate homerun.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo went 2-4 with a run scored, and a double.
-Senior Hanna Voegtle went 1-3 with an RBI.
-Senior Gillian Czubernat went 1-3 with an RBI.
-Senior Priscylla Rutter made it back-to-back days with a pinch-hit hit and today it was a double to right field.

How it Happened:
-This time the Spartans got the party started scoring 2 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the second inning.
-Sophomore Liberty Rivard came in relief for Dominican on the mound and brought a huge spark to the defense and to the team as a whole.
-The Stars offense was held quiet until the top of the 5th inning when DU exploded at the plate scoring 3 runs on 5 hits.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo got the scoring going with an RBI single that brought home Senior Hanna Voegtle. Freshman Isabella Olmos tied the game up at 2 with an RBI single to left field that brought home Santoyo. Junior Paytin Salfi took the lead for DU hitting an RBI single to right centerfield that scored Olmos.
-Dominican added a run in the 6th inning that came off the bat of Senior Emma Woodhouse and brought home Freshman Kayla Amormino.  

Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Liberty Rivard earned her first win of the season in the circle going 3.2 innings with 4 strikeouts.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo has continued to do damage for Dominican on the offensive side going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Freshman Isabella Olmos continued her career day at the plate going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Junior Paytin Salfi continued her phenomenal day at the plate going 2-4 with an RBI.
-Senior Hanna Voegtle went 2-2 with a run scored.
-Senior Emma Woodhouse went 1-3 with an RBI.
-Freshman Kayla Amormino went 1-2 with a run scored in a double in her 2 at-bats.

Junior Paytin Salfi and Freshman Isabella Olmos both were absolutely stellar at the plate, with each of them going 6-8 from the plate today. Salfi added 4 RBIs on the day and Olmos added 4 runs scored on the day with 3 doubles.

What's Next:
Dominican University Softball improves to 13-5 on the season, 5-1 in the NACC and 6-0 away from Rosemont. The Stars will continue their busy week with a home series against Benedictine University Tuesday afternoon. This series will mark 6 games in 4 days for DU. The first pitch between Dominican and Benedictine is set for 3:00 p.m.
