Montgomery, Ill. – No. 2 Seed Dominican University Softball took on No. 5 Seed MSOE in an elimination game during the 2025 NACC Softball Tournament.

How it Happened:
-MSOE took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on two hits.
-Dominican struck back in the bottom of the first, which started with a double by Senior
Liliana Santoyo. Freshman
Raegyn Davis then singled up the middle, scoring Santoyo. Looking for more, Junior
Ryley Davis then doubled to right field, scoring Ra. Davis from first. Ry. Davis was then thrown out at home after Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall singled to right. DU headed into the second inning up 2-1.
-Senior
Emma Woodhouse was in command during the top of the second, recording three straight groundouts to retire the side.
-The bottom of the second saw the Stars add to their lead after a single by Senior
Hanna Voegtle, a single by Senior
Gillian Czubernat, a sacrifice bunt by Freshman
Kayla Amormino, and finally an RBI single by Freshman
Sara Cornell.
-A second consecutive 1-2-3 inning for Woodhouse maintained the 3-1 DU lead in the top of the third.
-After a stagnant bottom of the third for Dominican, MSOE cut the Stars' lead to 3-2 in the top of the fourth.
-Voegtle and Cornell were stranded on base in the bottom of the fourth as the game started to tighten up.
-A 6-4-3 double play ended the inning for the Raiders in the top of the fifth.
-In the bottom of the fifth, Freshman
Isabella Olmos bunted her way onto first, then stole second. Ry. Davis then knocked a single to right, advancing Olmos to third. Junior
Leilani Guzman then pinch ran for Ry. Davis and stole second, putting two Stars in scoring position. A bunt single for Diaz Randall loaded the bases, where Voegtle notched an RBI single to right, ultimately giving Dominican a 4-2 advantage.
-The Raiders, looking to strike back, loaded the bases with one out in the top of the sixth, but Woodhouse escaped the jam with a popout to second and a groundout.
-DU was unable to add insurance in the bottom of the sixth.
-In the top of the seventh, MSOE started with a lead off single, but two fly outs and a strikeout looking sealed the victory for the Stars, who survive to play later in the day by a final of 4-2.

Hanna Voegtle was 3-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Ryley Davis finished 2-3 with a double and an RBI.

Raegyn Davis went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Emma Woodhouse picked up her 18
th win of the season, pitching all 7 innings.

What's Next:
Dominican University Softball improved to 31-11 overall on the season. The Stars now await the loser of the Concordia Wisconsin-Benedictine match up at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10
th. DU and CUW/BenU will play at 4:00 p.m. today with a chance to defeat the winner of CUW/BenU twice for the NACC Championship on Sunday, May 11
th.
