Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stars, Spartans End Deadlocked at 1

River Forest, Ill. – Dominican University Women's Soccer looked to get back into the win column at home against the University of Dubuque on Saturday.


Results:
Dominican: 1
Dubuque: 1

How it Happened:
-Senior Kamryn Klinger had a good effort on goal denied by the Spartan's keeper in the 2nd minute.
-In the 16th minute, Senior Sierra Rioux was denied from scoring range to keep the match knotted at 0-0.
-Dominican and Dubuque would head into the break scoreless. The Spartans outshot DU 4-2 in the first 45 minutes.
-Dubuque broke the deadlock in the 47th minute and took a 1-0 lead.
-Searching for an equalizer,  Sophomore Ariana Barney had a shot on target saved by the Dubuque keeper.
-In the 75th minute, after some great build-up play by Freshman Liliana Arechiga and Rioux, Freshman Logan Shanks finished the chance in front of goal for the Stars and tied the match up at 1-1.
-A scrappy end to the match could not separate the Stars and Spartans, with the contest ending at 1-1.
-DU closed the contest with 7 shots, 5 of them finding the target.
  

  Shining Stars:
 -Freshman Logan Shanks buried her 2nd goal of the season while adding another shot on target.   
-Senior Sierra Rioux and Freshman Liliana Arechiga recorded assists on Shanks' goal.
-Senior Kamryn Klinger had 2 shots with one finding the target.
-Sophomore Emily Norwick made 5 saves in her season debut.

  What's Next:
Dominican University Women's Soccer moves to 1-2-1 on the season. The Stars will be back at West Campus Field on Wednesday, September 17th, to open NACC play against Milwaukee School of Engineering. Kick-off is slated for 4:00 p.m.
