River Forest, Ill. - Dominican University Women's Volleyball played host to Saint Mary's College (Indiana) for Homecoming on Friday.

How it Happened:
-The Stars hung with the Belles to start the match, as kills from Senior
Ellery Shea and an ace by Freshman
Karolina Stonkus gave DU a 4-3 lead.
-Saint Mary's pulled away in the middle of the first set, setting Dominican back 17-10
-DU fought back into the set but came up short, falling 25-20 in the first.
-The second set saw a slower start for the Stars, but an ace by Shea and a kill by Junior
Kathryn Ksiezak closed the deficit to 10-7.
-The Belles pushed the pace throughout the rest of Set 2 and claimed a 2-0 lead by winning the frame 25-13.
-Dominican looked to get back into the match as Senior
Veronica Henkel went on a 6-0 run at the beginning of the third set.
-Runs for both Dominican and Saint Mary's kept Set 3 tight heading down the stretch, highlighted by a 4-0 run by Sophomore
Fabiana Pizzo.
-Both squads then began trading side outs, and Saint Mary's closed the door on a DU comeback, winning the final set 25-20.

Veronica Henkel posted a Dominican-high 7 kills alongside an ace and 5 digs.
-FreshmanÂ
Karolina Stonkus dished 22 assists.
-Junior
Kathryn Ksiezak notched a season-high of 5 total blocks in the defeat.

Fabiana Pizzo collected 5 digs.

Dominican University Women's Volleyball moves to 1-6 on the season. The Stars will open NACC play on the road at the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday, September 25
th. The match between the Stars and Raiders will begin at 7:00 p.m.
