River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Men's Soccer team was back in action Wednesday afternoon, after earning their first win of the season on Saturday.

How it Happened:
-Dominican got the first shot of the game in the 8
th minute of the game. The shot was taken by Senior
Ryan Gutierrez but was blocked in front. The Stars got the first corner of the game resulting from the shot.
-DU continued the pressure in the 10
th minute of the game with Sophomore Jonathon Almaguer, collecting two shots back-to-back. The first was blocked in front, but the rebound came right back to him, where he then fired the first shot on target in the match.
-Almaguer and the Stars kept up the pressure in the 11
th minute, when Almaguer put DU on the board with his second goal of the season. The goal was unassisted.
-Dominican did not take their foot off the gas after the goal, with Gutierrez firing his second shot of the game, this one on target that was saved by the Rockford keeper. Shortly after, Junior
Tristen Banquil and Senior
Lewis MacPherson both fire shots on target.
-Almaguer continued his momentum in the 22
nd minute of the game, firing another shot on goal towards the top right corner of the goal, but the Regents keeper made a diving save on the shot.
-DU kept on the gas pedal with shots on target by Freshman
Rogelio Cisneros putting two shots on frame that were both saved by the keeper. Almaguer also added another shot on goal to his name in this match.
-Dominican pushed the pace in the final 8 minutes of the first half and struck their second goal from Freshman
Enzo Cinque in the 37
th minute of the game, Freshman
Rogelio Cisneros earned the assists. The Cinque goal and Cisneros assist are both collegiate firsts.
-The Stars would go into the halftime break holding a 2-0 lead and recorded 14-0 shots in the first half, 8 of them on target.
-Dominican started the second half exactly where they left off, with Almaguer and Banquil firing shots that both missed the target and went out for goal kicks.
-DU earned their third goal of the game in the 49
th minute, with Almaguer scoring his second goal of the match. Assisted by Senior Brenda Gavin and Gutierrez.
-The Stars continued that momentum with their fourth goal of the game in the 61
st minute. Cinque collects his second goal of the game, assisted by Almaguer and Cisneros.
-Dominican flurry of scoring chances continued in the 71
st minute with Banquil having a shot on target that was headed away by one of the Rockford defensive backs. Junior
Nicholas Porada fired two shots; one of them found the target, while the other sailed over the crossbar.
-Rockford fired their first shot of the afternoon in the 88
th minute that found the back of the net, losing the clean sheet for Dominican.
-The match ended 4-1 in favor of the Stars. DU outshot Rockford 27-0, and 14 of those 27 were on target.
Shining Stars:
-Freshman
Enzo Cinque earned Star of the Game in his 50 minutes off the bench, scoring his first two collegiate goals. Firing 3 shots, 2 of those shots on target.
-Sophomore
Jonathan Almaguer continued where he left off on Saturday, scoring 2 goals and collecting an assist. Almaguer also had 7 total shots in the match, with 5 of them on frame.
-Freshman
Rogelio Cisneros collected his first two collegiate assists in 56 minutes of play. Cisneros also had 3 shots, 2 of them were on target.
-Senior
Ryan Gutierrez has continued to be a leader for the DU squad, picking up an assist in 61 minutes of play. Gutierrez also had a shot on goal in two shots.
-Senior
Brendan Gavin has done the dirty work for Dominican all season long; today he found his name in the score sheet with an assist in 77 minutes of play.

Tristen Banquil collected 7 shots in the match, two of those were on frame.
