Greencastle, Ind. - Dominican University Women's Volleyball began the 2025 season at the DePauw Invitational against Muskingum and Greenville on Friday.
Match 1:
Dominican: 0
Muskingum: 3
How it Happened:
-Dominican jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first set after kills from Senior
Ellery Shea and Senior
Lola Butler.
-Muskingum then gained control at the midpoint of Set 1 and won the opener 25-17.
-The Stars struggled in Set 2, dropping the frame 25-7.
-A balanced effort at the net established DU in the third, taking a 5-3 lead.
-After trading off points, Muskingum rattled off a 7-0 run in the middle of Set 3 to take the match by a final of 25-16.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Lola Butler and Freshman
Olivia Pollak led the Stars with 4 kills apiece. Pollak also added 9 digs in her collegiate debut.
-Junior
Kathryn Ksiezak recorded 2 blocks in the defeat.
-Sophomore
Fabiana Pizzo notched 8 digs for DU.

How it Happened:
-Dominican and Greenville opened their 2
nd match of the day neck and neck, with Greenville holding a 16-13 lead in the first set.
-Senior
Veronica Henkel and Freshman
Karolina Stonkus added kills late but the Stars would drop a tight first set 25-22.
-In Set 2, Greenville took an early 9-1 lead after an 8-0 run.
-Dominican stabilized and cut the deficit to one at 17-16 after a 4-0 run by Freshman
Taylor Lupton.
-Greenville finished the 2
nd with a 6-1 run and took a 2-0 lead over the Stars.
-DU started slow in the third but clawed their way back to a 7-6 deficit.
-Despite a 5-0 run by Senior
Ellery Shea late in the 3
rd, the Stars could not close out the set and fell 25-22.

Veronica Henkel paced Dominican with 8 kills while adding 5 digs.
-Senior
Lola Butler and Sophomore
Fabiana Pizzo each notched 12 digs.
-Junior
Jillian Ross collected 4 blocks in the loss.
