Men's Soccer Gears up for Their First Road Contest of the 2025 Season

Elmhurst, Ill. – Dominican University Men's Soccer ends their three-game homestand to start their first road contest at Elmhurst University on Wednesday.

Series History vs. Elmhurst:
All-Time Record / Streak: 6-3-4 / W2
Dominican and Elmhurst first played at West Campus Field on 9/9/2009 (T 1-1).
The last time these two schools played was 9/6/2023 at Dominican University (W 2-0).
The Stars are 3-0-2 at Elmhurst University.
Dominican has scored 19 goals and averaged 1.46 goals per game against the Blue Jays.

DU in Review:
-DU holds an 0-2-1 record this season.
-Dominican finished the 2024 season with a 12-5-4 record, including going 8-1-3 in conference and 7-2-2 at home.
-The Stars notched the second seed in the NACC Tournament. After a thrilling 3-2 victory over Concordia Wisconsin in the Quarterfinals, DU stumbled in the semis, losing 5-0 to MSOE.

-Junior Tristen Banquil leads the Stars in goals (1), shots (9), and shots on target (4).
-Sophomore Travis Fowler and Junior Ciaran Geraghty have anchored the back line for the Stars, playing all 270 minutes of the season thus far.
-Freshman Cody Leyba has tallied 9 saves throughout the season.
-Sophomore Dominik Tyka has collected 7 saves so far this season.
 
Familiar Faces:
-Sophomore Nathan Lara is back to don the Navy and Gold as the leading goal scorer among returners from last season with 2. Lara appeared in 6 matches and notched a start during the 2024 campaign.
-Sophomore Jonathan Almaguer returns to the midfield for DU. Almaguer registered a goal and an assist in 14 appearances last season.
-Senior Brendan Gavin resumes his place as the holding midfielder for the Stars. Gavin posted 15 appearances and logged 776 minutes in 2024.
-Junior Ciaran Geraghty looks to step in as a permanent fixture in Dominican's back four after charting 16 appearances and a goal last season.


Scouting Report:
-Elmhurst is 3-2 to start the 2025 season, playing two NACC opponents, losing 3-0 to Aurora University and beating Rockford University 2-1.
-The Bluejays beat Webster 1-0 in their most recent game, a common opponent of Dominican.
-Elmhurst is in a sandwich spot with two road games before playing Dominican, and afterwards the Blue Jays hit the road for three straight games.
