Stars get Back on Track at Marian

Fond Du Lac, Wis. - The Dominican University Women's Basketball team traveled to Marian University for a NACC battle against the Sabres.  
 
 Results: 
Dominican: 69 
Marian: 51 
 
 How it Happened: 
-Junior Teagan Dahl got the scoring started for the Stars with a bucket on the first possession of the game.  

-DU exploded 10-0 after Marian tied the game at 2, the run started with a three-point bucket by Freshman Kennedy Yost. Dahl collected her second bucket with Junior Lia Saunders, followed it up with a 3.  

-Dominican kept the pressure on by scoring 22 points in the first quarter. Juniors Kaitlyn Milison and Aya Deiri both collected buckets along with Sophomore Allannah Jackson.  

-The Stars shot 50% from the floor in the first quarter and held the Sabres to just 10 points and 25% from the floor.  

-Marian's offense exploded in the second quarter, scoring 15 points on 42.8% shooting from the floor, while DU only scored 4 points in the second quarter.  

-Dominican took a 26-25 lead into the break.  

-The offensive struggle did not last long for DU as they scored 24 points in the third quarter.  

-Milison hit back-to-back buckets for the Stars to start the third quarter, giving them a 5-point lead a minute into the third.  

-Saunders then caught fire for Dominican, scoring the next 9 of 12 points.  

-By the end of the third, DU had built up a 15-point lead.   

-The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair between Dominican and Marian.  

-Yost found her shot in the fourth quarter, scoring 9 of the 19 points in the quarter.  

-Deiri scored three straight points for DU in the middle of the quarter.  

-Dominican shot 48% from the floor in the game.  

  
 Shining Stars: 
-Freshman Kennedy Yost led the way for the Stars and earned the player of the game. Yost collected 18 points while shooting 8-11 and 2-3 from downtown. The freshman also earned 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. 

-Junior Lia Saunders added 17 points, scoring on 3-6 shooting from deep, while collecting 4 rebounds and 2 assists.  

-Junior Teagan Dahl found her way back to double-figures with 14 points. Dahl also grabbed 6 rebounds and 4 steals.  

-Junior Kaitlyn Milison flirted with a double-double, scoring 9 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Milison filled the stat sheet, though also earning 3 steals, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. 

-Junior Aya Deiri added 7 points for Dominican.

 What's Next: 
 Dominican University Women's Basketball moves to 7-7 on the 2025-2026 season and is 1-5 in NACC play. The Stars will return to the Igini Sports Forum on Wednesday night with a conference game against Rockford University. Tip-off between the Stars and the Regents is set for 7:00 p.m.
