Dominican Falls After CUW's Big Second Half

Mequon, Wis. – The Dominican University Women's Basketball team traveled to Concordia Wisconsin Wednesday night, looking to bounce-back after the win streak was snapped on Saturday afternoon.


 Results: 
Dominican: 45

 How it Happened: 
-Freshman Kennedy Yost earned the first bucket for the Stars, on a layup inside the paint assisted by Junior Lia Saunders.
-The Falcons quickly went on a 8-2 run after this making the score 10-4 in the first three minutes of the game.
-Dominican answered back going on a 7-0 run to take the lead 11-10 with three minutes left to play in the first quarter. Juniors Kaitlyn Milison and Teagan Dahl each made shots and Freshman Xi Le O'Neill started where she left off hitting a three in the sequence.
-DU had a 13-12 lead after the first 10 minutes of play, while shooting 31.58% from the floor.
-Yost made the first two baskets for the Stars in the second quarter, one of them being a three and giving DU a 18-14 lead.
-The Falcons tied the game up at 20 after going on a 6-2 run in the middle portion of the second quarter. The rest of the second was trading baskets, with CUW taking a 28-25 lead into the break.
-Yost scored 10 points in the second quarter and went 3-3 from the floor and 2-2 from the charity stripe.
-Yost once again made the first shot for DU out of the break in the first 10 seconds of the third quarter. This ignited a 10-2 Falcons run making the score 41-21 with under four minutes to play in the third quarter.
-Junior Aya Deiri stopped the run by hitting a three that was followed by a Milison bucket cutting their deficit to 5 points.
-Dominican went into the final 10 minutes of play down 47-41. Concordia Wisconsin caught fire in the fourth scoring 17 points and held the Stars to just 4.
  
 Shining Stars: 
-Freshman Kennedy Yost led the way for the Stars scoring 18 points on 7-14 shooting and 2-3 shooting from deep. The freshman also grabbed 7 rebounds.
-Freshman Emily Bouaphanh played significant minutes off the bench scoring 6 points and grabbing 2 rebounds.
-Junior Kaitlyn Milison has continued to stuff the stat-sheet collecting 6 points, 1 steal, 1 block, 3 assists and 4 rebounds.

 What's Next: 
 Dominican University Women's Basketball moves to 8-9 on the 2025-2026 season and is 2-7 in NACC play. The Stars will have a week off from game action for a week before traveling to Aurora University to take on the Spartans next Wednesday, January 28th at 7:00 p.m.
