River Forest, Ill. - Women's and Men's Basketball each only played one game this past week to ensure an end-of-the-season push! Men's Volleyball made its first appearance in the Igini Sports Forum of the season, and Track and Field competed in the Aurora Grand Prix as we continue to push through the winter season.
Women's Basketball headed to Concordia Wisconsin on Wednesday night after two straight home games. DU and CUW were right next to each other in the standings, with both teams making that push into the NACC tournament. The first half was back-and-forth between the two schools, with the score being 28-25 in favor of the Falcons at the break. Dominican hung tough in the third quarter, scoring 16 points, but Concordia Wisconsin responded with a big 4
th that gave the Falcons the win. Freshman Kennedy Yost was on fire from the floor, scoring 18 points on 7-14 shooting and 2-3 from downtown. DUWBB has a busy week this upcoming week with two top NACC opponents. The first game will be at Aurora University on Wednesday, January 28
th, for a 7 pm tip-off. The Stars will head home for a battle with Edgewood University in the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday, January 31
st. Tip-off is set for 3:15 p.m.
Men's Basketball is in the midst of four straight home games,s with one this past weekend and two this upcoming weekend. The Stars hosted Concordia Wisconsin this past Wednesday night, looking to build momentum for the rest of the season. DU had 5 players in double-figures, but that was not enough to overcome the Falcons' offense, with CUW winning 91-75. Dominican outscored Concordia Wisconsin in the second half 44-41. DUMBB will be right back on their home floor this week with two more home games. The first will be on Wednesday, January 28
th, with the Spartans of Aurora coming to town. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. The second game is a part of our NABL Showcase with Edgewood University coming to the Igini Sports Forum. This one will be on Saturday, January 31
st, and will be the first game of our double-header at 1:00 p.m.
Men's Volleyball made their way to the Igini Sports Forum for two matches this past week. In the first match, Augustana came to town for the Stars' home opener, and DUMVB made sure the DU fans left going home happy in a 3-0 sweep over the Vikings. Senior Michael Greco earned Star of the match, hitting .500% in the match to go along with 4 blocks. Sophomore Kendall Esparza was incredible with 10 kills and 3 service aces in this one. The next day, Dominican welcomed in Adrian College, with DU winning 3-0 and starting the year on a 3-game win streak. Junior Thomas Hirsch was all over the floor, leaving his mark on this one with 12 kills on a .786 hitting percentage and 7 total blocks. DUMVB is right back in action on Thursday, January 29
th, as the Stars travel to Lakeland University for a 6:00 p.m. first serve in their first conference match. The Stars will then start a 5-game homestand on Sunday, February 1
st, when California Lutheran University comes to town. First serve for this one is set for 11:00 a.m.

Men's and Women's Track and Field competed in the Aurora Grand Prix this past weekend, hosted by Aurora University in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday. Freshman Samuel Malke led the squad on the men's side, competing in the men's 800-meter and recording a time of 2:00.86. This time was good enough for 14
th place in the race and put his name in the Dominican University Men's Indoor Track & Field record book as the fastest time in this event. Malke was not the only person to put their name in the record book; the Women's 4x200-meter relay team put their name in the record book for this event. The team was comprised of Junior Kailee Diaz Randall, Sophomore Kayla Amormino, and Freshman Adison Hasse, and Charlie Harris. DU Track and Field will be back in action on Saturday, January 31
st, at the Chicago Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Chicago.

Stars of the Week for the week of January 19th to January 25th:
Junior Kailee Diaz Randall, Sophomore Kayla Amormino, Freshman Charlie Harris, and Adison Hasse of the Track and Field Team received Star of the Week honors. These four set the Dominican record in the 4x200 relay race, putting all their names in the Dominican Track and Field Indoor Track Record Book.
Junior Thomas Hirsch of Men's Volleyball was named Star of the Week. Hirsch posted 15 kills, 14 blocks, and 2 aces in his two matches this past week.
