River Forest, Ill. – The new year brought with it some exciting Women's and Men's Basketball action on campus.

Women's Basketball ended 2025 with a convincing victory over Monmouth College on Tuesday by a final score of 60-44. The Stars pulled away from the Scots in the 2nd quarter and put the game away with timely free-throw shooting in the fourth. Junior Teagan Dahl had an impressive afternoon, totaling a team-leading 14 points on 6-7 shooting while adding 8 rebounds. Freshman Kennedy Yost notched 12 points and 4 steals. Following Monmouth, DU returned to NACC play at home against Lakeland on Saturday. After trailing by 7 heading into halftime, the Stars clawed their way back into the game and took a 1-point lead with 36 seconds remaining. The Muskies converted on a lay-up with 20 seconds left and escaped the Igini Sports Forum by a final score of 48-47. Sophomore Allannah Jackson posted a team-leading and career-high 12 points alongside 2 steals and 2 rebounds in the defensive affair. Yost finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds. The Stars are back on the road for a pair of games this week, starting with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off against the Raiders at MSOE on Wednesday, January 7th. Following that, DU will travel to Marian on Saturday, January 10th, for a 1:00 p.m. tip against the Sabres.
 
Men's Basketball opened 2026 at home against Lakeland on Saturday. After taking an 8-point lead into the break, the Stars continued to battle with the Muskies throughout the second half, with Lakeland beginning to cut into the Dominican lead. DU could not hold off the Muskies, as Lakeland hit a buzzer-beater three to win the game by a final score of 70-69. Freshman Elijah Daugherty dropped a career-high 25 points in the defeat, while Sophomore Frank Paszkowski added 14 points. DUMBB is slated to host MSOE for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off on Wednesday, January 7th, before heading on the road to Marian on Saturday, January 10th. Tip-off against the Sabres is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
 
Men's Volleyball spent the new year abroad in Italy to tune up for the beginning of it season in mid-January. The Stars will participate in a pair of exhibition games over the weekend against the 630 Breeze and Chicago Icemen.
 
Men's and Women's Track and Field kick off the indoor season at the Lewis Open on Saturday, January 10th.
