River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Basketball traveled to across Division Street to take on Concordia Chicago on Wednesday night.

How it Happened:
-The Stars got off to a blazing hot start, with Freshman
Kennedy Yost knocking down DU's first three of the game alongside layups by Junior
Lia Saunders and Junior
Teagan Dahl to give Dominican an early 7-0 lead.
-After CUC cut the early deficit to 11-7, Sophomore
Allannah Jackson sparked another 7-0 run for the Stars, which included a three-pointer from Saunders.
-A layup by Freshman
Eva Herbig toward the end of the first gave DU a 20-12 advantage heading into the second quarter.
-Saunders and Yost continued to apply the pressure offensively, combining for Dominican's first six points of the second, and held the Stars' lead at 26-18.
-DU would continue to answer the Cougars with offense of their own, as Dahl crashed the offensive glass and got a putback layup to push a 32-26 Dominican advantage.
-With Concordia Chicago gaining momentum toward the end of the first half, Sophomore
Danielle Washington knocked down a midrange jumper to push the Stars into halftime with a 34-30 lead.
-DU would capitalize on offensive rebounding to open the third quarter, as Yost and Jackson pushed the Dominican lead back up to eight.
-Midway through the third, CUC clawed back to a 41-41 deadlock with the Stars, but Washington drained a three-pointer, which regained the lead for DU.
-Washington used that three to springboard herself into scoring eight of twelve Dominican points in the back end of the third quarter, as the Stars were up 53-50 heading into the final stanza.
-Herbig regained her offensive prowess in the opening moments of the fourth, connecting from downtown and adding a layup to keep the Cougars at arm's length, with the score reading 60-56 with seven minutes remaining.
-Throughout the fourth quarter, the game would remain within two possessions, with each team hitting clutch buckets and free throws to stay within reach.
-With one minute remaining, Yost would grab a defensive rebound and convert with a nice move in the post on the other end, giving DU a 67-64 lead.
-Concordia Chicago would tie the game with an and-one and take the lead for the first time all night on a layup with five seconds remaining. The Stars ultimately fell by a final score of 69-67.
