Ty Geschke of the Dominican University Men's Volleyball team was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Volleyball Offensive Student Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 22
nd.
Geschke, a junior outside hitter from Racine, Wisconsin, played in both matches this past week while starting in both matches for the Stars. In the first match, the Stars hosted NACC opponent Rockford University. DU swept the Regents. Ty earned 7 kills while hitting .500 and a service ace. In the second match of the week, and the second match on Saturday the 21
st for Dominican. The Junior and the Stars hosted UW Stevens Point in a five-set thriller. Ty collected 23 total kills and hit .400 against the pointers. Geschke also collected 2 service aces in this one. In this match
Ty Geschke reached 500 career kills, tying him for 6
th in Dominican University Men's Volleyball record book for kills in a single game with 23.
Overall, for the week, Geschke collected 30 kills in two matches while hitting .418 from the floor and adding two service aces.
Head Coach
Doug Burchett commented on Geschke's NACC Offensive Player of the Week by saying, "Ty had a great weekend for us all around but particularly on the offensive side, taking some huge swings. He's continuing to add more shots to his game and has really grown in his out-of-system attacking."
Geschke and the Dominican University Men's Volleyball team will be back in action this Friday night with a road NACC contest against the Raiders of MSOE. The first serve between these two squads is set for 7:00 p.m. in Milwaukee.
