Plymouth, Wis. – The Dominican University Women's Basketball team traveled to Lakeland University for a chance to continue the winning momentum.

How it Happened:
-It was a slow start to the game for both teams, as there were only four points in the first two minutes of the game.
-Junior
Lia Saunders got the first bucket for the Stars that was not at the charity stripe.
-Dominican found themselves down by 14 after the first 10 minutes of play.
-Junior
Aya Deiri got DU going in the second quarter, earning a bucket on their second possession of the quarter.
-The shooting struggles continued into the second quarter for Dominican, scoring 8 points and going into the break down 33-11.
-The Stars found some rhythm in the third quarter, scoring 17 points and shooting 46.7% from the floor.
-Junior
Teagan Dahl earned the first bucket in the third quarter for Dominican before Freshman
Eva Herbig caught fire.
-Herbig scored 8 points in the third quarter, including two threes. This helped DU outscore Lakeland in the quarter.
-Dominican continued to claw back into this game with Dahl hitting a three to start the final ten minutes of action.
-Sophomore
Allannah Jackson then got DU on an offensive run, scoring 7 points in the next minute. Jackson, and Freshman
Emily Bouaphanh and
Kennedy Yost all contributed for the Stars in this run.
-Just when the Muskies pushed their lead back out to 17 with five minutes to play, a media timeout came at the perfect time for Dominican to find their last push in the game.
-The Stars did just that, with Yost hitting a three after the media timeout. Deiri and Herbig also contributed to this 8-0 run, making the score 59-50 with under three to play.
-DU could not push anymore into the Lakeland lead despite Sophomore
Danielle Washington hitting a three with a minute to play to make the score 64-56.
Shining Stars:
-Freshman
Kennedy Yost led the team in points with 12. Yost knocked down 2 three-pointers and made both of her free throw's attempts. The Freshman also grabbed 9 rebounds in the game.
-Freshman
Eva Herbig found her shot in this afternoon's game, scoring 11 points on 4-8 shooting from the floor and 3-7 shooting from downtown.
-Sophomore
Danielle Washington gained a lot of confidence in today's game since coming off the ACL injury. Washington scored 7 points on 2-4 shooting from downtown
-Freshman
Emily Bouaphanh and Junior
Lia Saunders each collected 8 points.

Dominican University Women's Basketball falls to 10-11 overall on the season and 4-9 in the NACC. The Stars have another chance at revenge in their next game, when the Eagles of Benedictine University come to the Igini Sports Forum. Tip-off between the Stars and the Eagles is set for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11
th.
