Bartow, Fla.—The Dominican University Softball team was back on the diamond this afternoon, with two games after a day off. The Stars played Beloit College and No. 23 Belhaven University (Miss.) in their two games.

How it Happened:
-Sophomore starting pitcher
Hannah Richards got the Buccaneers of Beloit College in order in the top of the first inning.
-The Stars rolled in their half of the first inning with Sophomore
Kayla Amormino hitting a single to center field and instantly stealing second base. Senior
Ryley Davis singled through the left side to bring home Amormino for the first run of the game.
-Sophomore
Sara Cornell stepped up with the Davis sisters on second and third base and drove both runners home with a 2-RBI triple to right center field. The fourth run of the inning came off the bat of Junior
Kailee Diaz Randall on a single to left field that brought home Cornell.
-Beloit got their first hit of the game in the second inning, but Richards left her stranded on third base.
-Dominican got runners on base in the inning with Amormino stealing second and third, but DU was unable to get the runner across in the second.
-The Stars continued to roll on the defensive end, leaving a runner on second base and the Buccaneers still scoreless.
-The Stars added a run in the third with Senior
Paytin Salfi hitting an RBI double to left field that scored Diaz Randall, making the score 5-0.
-Richards not taking the foot off the gas left another runner on base that reached on an error.
-Sophomore
Raegyn Davis came up clutch with a 2 RBI single to left field that brought home Amormino and Sophomore
Isabella Olmos.
-Richards was still rolling into the fifth; got the Buccaneers to go to give DU a chance to slaughter.
-Freshman
Kendall Parker hit a sacrifice fly to center field to end the game for the Stars. Diaz Randall was the player to come across home for the winning run.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
Hannah Richards earned co-player of the game, throwing 5 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts and only giving up 3 hits.
-Senior
Paytin Salfi took a huge stride in this one with going 3-3 with an RBI and a double.
-Junior
Kailee Diaz Randall has continued to come on strong, going 3-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
-Sophomore
Kayla Amormino used her speed all over the field, going 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.
-Sophomore
Raegyn Davis stayed hot, going 1-2 with a walk, 2 RBIs, and a run scored.
-Sophomore
Sara Cornell rolled into her second game back after injury, going 1-3 with 2 RBIs, a run scored, and a triple.

How it Happened:
-After the Stars went three up and three down, the Blazers of Belhaven scored 4 runs on 4 hits.
-DU got some momentum back with Sophomore's
Madisen Butler and
Sara Cornell getting back-to-back hits but were unable to get those runners across home.
-Sophomore relief pitcher
Rhiannon Rubio got the Blazers to go three-up and three-down in the second to hold the score at 4-0.
-Sophomore
Isabella Olmos got on base with a single through the left side, but two great defensive plays by Belhaven stranded Olmos on first.
-The #23 team in the nation added four more runs, starting off with a solo homerun, then scoring the rest on three hits.
-The top of the fourth inning brought some energy into the DU dugout, scoring 3 runs in the inning.
-The inning started with a single by Senior
Ryley Davis to right field; Butler followed it up with a single to right field of her own. Cornell made it three straight singles and brought home
Adison Hasse who was running for Ry. Davis. Diaz Randall followed it up with a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing home Sophomore Tamiah Jefferson. The third run of the inning came off the bat of Senior
Paytin Salfi on a ground ball to second base.
-The Blazers found their spark again, scoring 7 runs on 2 hits in the inning, making the score 15-3 going to the top of the 5
th.
-After a leadoff walk by Freshman
Charlie Harris, the Stars went 1-2-3 after that, falling to the #23 team in the nation.

Sara Cornell led the way, going 2-2 with an RBI, a run scored, and a double.

Dominican University Softball moves to 2-8 on the season and will head to their second day in Florida, being 2-4 so far. The first pitch against Washington College MD will be at 1:45 PM EST.
