Rockford, Ill. – The Dominican University Softball team was back on the diamond after losing both games on Saturday. The Stars were at Rockford University on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened:
-Dominican set the tone early with Junior
Emme Slavens hitting a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Senior
Paytin Salfi to take a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning.
-The Regents went 1-2-3 in the bottom half of the first.
-DU kept rolling into the second inning with Freshman
Charlie Harris starting the inning off with a leadoff single. Sophomore
Kayla Amormino followed it up with a single of her own and then advanced to second base on the throw, putting runners at second and third. Sophomore
Isabella Olmos delivered a single to center field that scored both Amormino and Harris. The final run of the inning came off the bat of Sophomore
Raegyn Davis, hitting an RBI single to centerfield that scored Olmos. The Stars took a 4-0 lead by the bottom of the second inning.
-For the second straight inning, Rockford went three up and three down.
-Dominican got two runners on base in the third inning, including Harris earning her second of the game.
-Regents got their first runner of the game on a walk in their half of the third inning but were unable to get a runner across.
-DU picked their stride back up in the fourth inning with Olmos laying down a bunt single with one out. Rae. Davis then was hit by a pitch to put a second base runner on base. Senior
Ryley Davis then drove home Olmos and Senior
Leilani Guzman who ran for Rae. Davis, making the score 6-0.
-Sophomore starting pitcher
Hannah Richards carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning before the Regents got their first hit of the game, but Richards held them scoreless in the fourth.
-Rae. Davis made it 8-0 in the top of the fifth inning, hitting a two-RBI single to left-center field scoring Olmos and Amormino.
-Rockford got their first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning to stay alive, scoring a run on zero hits in the inning.
-The score remained 8-1 in favor of the Stars until the top of the 7
th inning, when Dominican tacked on two more runs. Amormino scored on a wild pitch, and then Senior
Paytin Salfi doubled to left field, scoring Olmos.
-The Regents got a 2-out single but nothing more in the bottom of the seventh. Dominican got their first conference win of the season, winning 10-1.

Charlie Harris earned Star of the Game going 2-3 with a walk, a run scored, and 2 stolen bases.

Raegyn Davis went 3-4 with 3 RBIs and a hit by pitch.

Ryley Davis went 2-5 with 2 RBIs.

How it Happened:
-The Stars carried the momentum from the game one win to game two, scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning.
-Sophomore
Isabella Olmos started off the game with a walk and then instantly stole second base. Senoir
Paytin Salfi delivered an RBI single to left center, scoring Olmos. Senoir
Ryley Davis scored Salfi on an RBI single up the middle. Ry. Davis came around to score on the Sophomore
Madisen Butler's RBI single to right field.
-The Regents got a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first but were shut down after that.
-DU added another run in the second inning, with Salfi reaching base on an error by the right fielder and Olmos scoring on this play.
-Rockford once again got the leadoff batter on with a walk, but nothing more after that.
-Dominican kept applying pressure by scoring 3 more runs in the third.
-The third inning started off with Junior
Emme Slavens hitting a single to center field, and Freshman
Charlie Harris followed it up with a single of her own to center field. Sophomore
Kayla Amormino drove home the first run of the inning on an RBI single to shortstop that scored Butler. Olmos continued her great day driving in Harris and Amormino with a two-RBI double to right center field, making the score 7-0.
-Sophomore starting pitcher
Rhiannon Rubio kept rolling in the third inning, making the Regents go 1-2-3 in the bottom of the third.
-Both teams were held scoreless in the fourth inning.
-Dominican's offense exploded for 6 runs in the top of the fifth inning, which started with Harris singling to shortstop. Freshman
Adison Hasse then put the pressure on the Rockford defense with her speed and reaching on an error by the third baseman and got to second base on this error. Amormino then scored Hasse and Harris with a single to center field, making the score 9-0.
-The inning continued with Salfi drawing a walk and the Davis sisters each hitting RBI hits. Rae. Davis hit an RBI double to left field that scored Amormino. Ry. Davis followed it up with an RBI single through the middle, scoring Salfi. Rae. Davis came across home on a ground out by Salvens. The final run of the inning was scored on a passed ball that Sophomore
Tamaih Jefferson scored on, who ran for Ry. Davis.
-Rubio finished her gem in the circle, only allowing the first hit of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, but nothing more.
Shining Stars:

Rhiannon Rubio earned Star of the Game, throwing an outstanding game in the circle, going 5 scoreless innings, only allowing one hit, and collecting 7 strikeouts.
-Freshman
Charlie Harris continued her phenomenal day going 3-4 with 2 runs scored.
-Senior
Ryley Davis capped out her incredible weekend going 2-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
-Sophomore
Raegyn Davis continued to swing a hot bat going 2-4 with an RBI, a run scored, and a double.

Emme Slavens has been a staple in the Stars' lineup, going 2-4 with an RBI.
