Rosemont, Ill.—The Dominican University Softball team was back on the diamond after 13 days of not playing, for a NACC doubleheader against the Eagles of Edgewood.

How it Happened:
-The Stars got the scoring going in the bottom of the first inning with Sophomore
Isabella Olmos leading the game off with a single and then stealing second base on the very next pitch. Olmos scored off the bat of Senior
Paytin Salfi who reached on an error by the second baseman.
-Dominican opened the game up in the bottom of the second with Sophomore
Sara Cornell ripping a triple right center field. Cornell scored on the next batter with Sophomore
Kayla Amormino placing a bunt single down and then reaching second on an error by the pitcher. Olmos drove home Amormino and herself with a single on a hard ground ball to the outfield that the center fielder let roll past her. Olmos scored on the error; Amormino scored on the hit. The final run of the inning came off the bat of Senior
Ryley Davis on the RBI single to center field that scored Salfi to third.
-Sophomore starting pitcher
Hannah Richards held a perfect game after three innings as she got the Eagles to go nine up and nine down.
-DU made it three straight innings of scoring with Cornell belting a two-run homerun to left center field that scored Freshman
Adison Hasse.
-The Stars held a 7-0 lead until the top of the fifth inning, where Edgewood scored 2 runs on 2 hits while taking advantage of a DU error.
-Dominican answered back, though, with Cornell hitting a two-out triple and then scoring on an error by the catcher.
-Edgewood found another two runs on three hits in the top of the 6
th inning.
-The Stars did not take their foot off the gas, with Freshman
Kendall Parker leading off the bottom of the sixth inning with a single. Parker came around to score on a wild pitch for the first run of the inning. Sophomore
Tamaih Jefferson then scored on the groundout by Junior
Alyssa Craig. The final run of the inning came off the bat of Freshman
Charlie Harris that scored Freshman
Erin Kelleher on a ground out to the shortstop.
-Dominican went into the top of the 7
th inning with an 11-4 lead. DU gave the ball over to Junior
Liberty Rivard to close it out, and she did so in four batters.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
Sara Cornell earned Star of the Game, going 4-4 with two triples, a homerun, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBIs.
-Senior
Ryley Davis went a perfect 3-3 with an RBI and a double.
-Sophomore
Isabella Olmos has continued to be an on-base machine in the lead off spot going 2-4 with 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, and a stolen base.
-Freshman
Kendall Parker had her best game in a Stars uniform, going 2-2 with a run scored in her role off the bench.

Raegyn Davis went 2-4.

-Dominican kept rolling into game two by scoring a run in the bottom of the first. Sophomore
Raegyn Davis hit an RBI single to second base that scored Sophomore
Isabella Olmos.
-The Stars held the 1-0 lead until the bottom of the third, when they tacked on two runs. The first run came off the bat of Senior
Ryley Davis, who hit a hard line drive back at the pitcher that scored Olmos from third base. Ry. Davis came around to score on the RBI single from Freshman
Charlie Harris.
-Sophomore starting pitcher
Rhiannon Rubio has continued to dominate in the circle in this one and got the Eagles to go three up and three down in the fourth inning.
-Dominican added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning with Harris hitting an RBI single to center field that scored Senior
Leilani Guzman from second base.
-Rubio came out for the seventh inning and earned her 4
th complete game by getting Edgewood in four batters to secure the 4-0 win.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
Rhiannon Rubio earned Star of the Game throwing 7 shutout innings while picking up 7 strikeouts in her 5
th win of the season.
-Freshman
Charlie Harris found her stride on the day, going 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a stolen base.
-Senior
Ryley Davis has continued to dominate offensively for DU going 1-2 with an RBI, a run scored, and a walk.
-Sophomore
Raegyn Davis went 1-3 with an RBI.
