Rosemont, Ill.—The Dominican University Softball team was back at the Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex to host Marian University on Sunday afternoon.
Results (Game 1):
Dominican: 6

How it Happened:
-Marian threatened in the top of the first inning, loading the bases with nobody out. Sophomore starting pitcher
Hannah Richards buckled down and did not let a run up and turned the bats over to her team.
-Dominican could not take control of the momentum and left a runner stranded on second base.
-The score remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning, scoring a run on a hit.
-DU was unable to respond in the bottom of the fourth inning but came alive in the fifth inning. The Stars put up 6 spots on 5 hits.
-Freshman
Charlie Harris started the inning off with a single to left field. Harris came around to score on a ball by Sophomore
Sara Cornell that reached on an error by the third baseman. Senior
Paytin Salfi continued with a 2 RBI double to center field, scoring Cornell and Sophomore
Kayla Amormino. Sophomore
Raegyn Davis followed it up with an RBI single to third base that scored Sophomore
Isabella Olmos. Senior
Ryley Davis brought home the final two runs on a 2 RBI double to right field, scoring her sister Rae. Davis and Salfi.
-The Sabres did not hesitate to respond, putting up a six spot of their own on three hits, with some help of walks and hit-by-pitches by DU pitching.
-The Stars were unable to tie the game up at 7 and fell in the first game of the doubleheader.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Ryley Davis has continued to be a hitting machine going 2-4 with 2 RBIs and a double.
-Senior
Paytin Salfi continued to come on strong going 2-3 with a walk, a run scored, 2 RBIs, and a double.
-Sophomore
Kayla Amormino put the pressure on the defense with her speed, going 2-3 with a run scored.

How it Happened:
-Dominican responded to the game one loss by scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Senior
Ryley Davis brought home Sophomore
Raegyn Davis on an RBI single to center field. Rae. Davis got on with a two-out double to deep center field.
-DU held the 1-0 until the bottom of the third inning with Ry. Davis hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Senior
Paytin Salfi.
-The Stars were holding a two-run lead with Junior starting pitcher
Liberty Rivard continuing to hold the Sabres scoreless and getting them in order multiple times throughout the game.
-Marian did get on the scoreboard in the top of the 6
th inning by scoring a run on a hit.
-Rivard still in the circle in the seventh inning and earned a 2-1 win, stranding one Sabre runner on first base.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Liberty Rivard earned Star of the Game, throwing 7 innings, only giving up one run and collecting 2 strikeouts in the game.
-Sophomore
Raegyn Davis also earned Star of the Game, going 2-3 with 2 doubles and a run scored.
-Senior
Ryley Davis brought home both runs for the Stars, going 1-2 with 2 RBIs.

Dominican University Softball moves to 18-12 on the season and 12-4 in conference play. The Stars are now in second place in the NACC standings. Dominican University softball will start off a busy week, with their first series of the week being on April 22
nd at 4:00 p.m. against Benedictine University. This will be at the Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
