Lexington, Ky. Junior
Thomas Hirsch of the Dominican University Men's Volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with the announcement of the organization's 2026 Division III Men's Volleyball All-Americans and Honorable Mentions.
Hirsch's selection for the AVCA All-American Second Team is extremely well deserved, as he has made a significant jump from his sophomore season to his junior season and has been successful all over the court for Dominican Men's Volleyball this season. On the defensive side of the ball, Hirsch led the team in blocks with 103 blocks, 24 of those being solo blocks. This is good enough to lead the conference. Now moving to offense, Hirsch leads the nation in hitting percentage with a .444 hitting percentage as a middle blocker. Thomas has recorded 258 kills on the season and 38 service aces. Most importantly, the Junior from Boise, Idaho, started in all 29 matches this season.
Head Coach
Doug Burchett commented on the AVCA Second Team All-American by saying, "I am unbelievably proud to welcome Thomas as the newest member of the program's AVCA All-American honorees. Thomas made an amazing jump from his Sophomore to Junior season to become one of the best players in the country. He was a dual threat both offensively and defensively at the net all season long and produced some incredible numbers in his hitting percentage and blocks. This award is well deserved, and our entire program is thrilled he is representing Dominican Men's Volleyball on the All-American list."
