Plymouth, Wis. – The Dominican University Softball team hit the road for two back-to-back days with NACC series, this one at Lakeland University for a top two battle in the NACC standings.
Results (Game 1 Final in 8 Innings):

How it Happened:
-The first inning was 6 up and 6 down with both teams being retired without a runner on base.
-Freshman
Charlie Harris got the first hit of the game with a single to third baseman, but nothing more.
-Sophomore starting pitcher
Hannah Richards was feeling it in the circle, getting the Muskies in order for the second time in four innings and keeping the score 0-0.
-Lakeland did find the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning by scoring a run on two hits to take a 1-0 lead.
-The Stars did not take long to respond, tying the game up at one in the top of the sixth. Senior
Paytin Salfi hit a two-out double to ignite DU, and Sophomore
Raegyn Davis brought home senior
Leilani Guzman, who ran for Salfi on the RBI single.
-After Dominican tied the game up, Richards made sure to keep it that way in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings to send the game to extras.
-In extra innings, Sophomore
Isabella Olmos drew a one-out walk, and Salfi got hit by a pitch to put two runners on with one out. Senior
Ryley Davis came up and hit a clutch RBI single to right field that scored Olmos from second base and gave DU a 2-1 lead going to the bottom of the 8
th.
-Richards came out for the bottom of the 8
th inning and got the Muskies to ground out three straight times for the Stars to win 2-1 in a low-scoring affair.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Ryley Davis earned Star of the Game after collecting the winning hit and RBI of the game. Ry. Davis went 1-3 with a walk and an RBI.
-Sophomore
Hannah Richards went the distance, throwing in all 8 innings, only allowing 1 earned run, and picked up 6 strikeouts in her 11
th win of the season.

Raegyn Davis went 1-4 with an RBI.
-Senior
Paytin Salfi went 1-3 with a double.

How it Happened:
-Dominican carried that momentum from winning game one into game two, with Sophomore
Isabella Olmos leading the game off with a single and Senior
Ryley Davis driving her in with a two-out RBI single to left field.
-Sophomore starting pitcher
Rhiannon Rubio worked great in the first with an early lead and getting the Muskies 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first.
-DU added another two runs in the top of the second inning. Freshman
Charlie Harris singled to left field in the first at-bat of the inning. Sophomore
Madisen Butler followed it up with a double down to left field. Sophomore
Kayla Amormino moved from butler to third on a single to left field and brought up Olmos with a double down the left field line that scored Amormino and Butler.
-Lakeland tied the game up at 3 by scoring three runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning.
-The Stars punched back with their own three-spot in the top of the fourth inning.
-The inning started with Butler being hit by a pitch, and Senior
Leilani Guzman pinch ran for Butler. Guzman scored on a double to center field by Olmos. Sophomore
Raegyn Davis brought home the second run of the inning on a single to center field that scored Olmos from second base. Ry. Davis followed up her sister's RBI single with an RBI single of her own, this one to right field that scored Senior
Paytin Salfi.
-Dominican held Lakeland in check in the fourth and made it a 7-3 lead in the 5
th. Sophomore
Sara Cornell started the inning off with a single to the shortstop, then instantly stole second base. This set up Butler for an RBI single to center field that scored Cornell.
-The Muskies bats woke up in the 5
th by scoring 8 runs on 4 hits but most importantly took advantage of 5 Dominican errors in the inning.
-The score remained 11-7 in favor of Lakeland until the top of the 7th, with DU trying to get back into the game by Ry. Davis hitting a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Olmos, but that was all the Stars would get in the inning.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
Isabella Olmos tied a Dominican record for single-game hits in this one, going 5-5 with 3 RBIs, 3 runs scored, 2 doubles, and a stolen base.
-Senior
Ryley Davis is hitting just under .500, and that continued in this game, going 3-4 with 3 RBIs.
-Sophomore
Raegyn Davis has continued to be a workhorse going 2-4 with a walk and an RBI.
-Sophomore
Madisen Butler found her swing going 2-2 with a run scored, an RBI, a double, and a hit-by-pitch.

Charlie Harris has been a staple in the lineup since NACC play started, and she proved it here going 2-4 with a double.

What's Next:
Dominican University Softball moves to 21-13 on the season and 15-5 in conference play. The Stars keep their top spot in the NACC standings after their tough two days and now are back in action Saturday afternoon at the Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex for Cancer Day. Dominican Softball is hoping to pack the stadium in a grey out. The cancer day festivities start at 11:30 a.m., and the first pitch between Dominican and St. Norbert is set for 12:00 p.m.
