Stars Sweep to a Share of the NACC Regular Season Conference Title

Rosemont, Ill.—The Dominican University Softball team was at the Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex for the final time in the 2026 season. The Stars hosted Alverno College on Senior Day.

Results (Game 1 Final in 5 Innings):

How it Happened:
-The Inferno got the party rolling by scoring 2 runs on a hit in the top of the first inning.
-Dominican answered back with Sophomore Isabella Olmos drawing a four-pitch walk and Senior Paytin Salfi singling to right field that brought home Olmos.
-Junior starting pitcher Liberty Rivard settled into the game in the 2nd inning, with Alverno going three up, three down in the top of the second inning. This opened all momentum for DU in the bottom of the second.  
-The Stars scored 6 runs on 5 hits in the inning, and the inning started with Junior Kailee Diaz Randall walking. Sophomore Madisen Butler and Kayla Amormino followed it up with one-out hits. Butler singled to left field, and Amormino tripled to deep center field, scoring Butler and Diaz Randall. Olmos continued the inning with an RBI single to the shortstop, scoring Amormino. Salfi, the very next batter, hit an inside-the-park homerun to right field. Freshman Charlie Harris brought home the final run of the inning with an RBI triple to right field that scored Senior Ryley Davis, who walked.
-Dominican did not stop with a 7-2 lead as they added 6 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the third inning. The inning started with Sophomore Sara Cornell drawing a walk, Butler drawing a walk, and Amormino beating out a bunt single to load the bases. Olmos stepped up with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam to left field. The bases would get loaded once again for the Stars with Salfi walking, Ry. Davis hit a single between the center fielder and second baseman, and Harris was hit by a pitch. This brought up Diaz Randall, who drew a walk to score Salfi. Senior Leilani Guzman followed it up with a four-pitch walk, scoring Ry. Davis.
-The Stars added one more run at the bottom of the fourth inning with Ry. Davis hitting a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Olmos.
-Alverno College scratched 1 run across in the fifth inning but nothing more as the Stars went to a 14-3 win in game one.
   
 
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Isabella Olmos had a career game and earned Star of the Game, going 2-2 with 2 walks, 5 RBIs, 4 runs scored, 2 stolen bases, and a grand slam.
-Senior Paytin Salfi started her senior day off on the right foot, going 2-3 with 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored, a walk, and an inside-the-park homerun.
-Sophomore Kayla Amormino continued her stellar weekend, going 2-2 with 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, and a triple.
-Senior Ryley Davis continued her stellar senior campaign going 1-2 with a walk, an RBI, and 2 runs scored.
-Freshman Charlie Harris went 1-3 with an RBI and a triple.

How it Happened:
-After a 1-2-3 inning on the defensive side of the ball for DU in the first inning, they did not hesitate to score in the bottom of the first. Senior Paytin Salfi walked for the first baserunner of the game. Sophomore Raegyn Davis followed it up with an RBI triple to left-center field, bringing home Salfi. Senior Ryley Davis brought home her younger sister on a sacrifice fly to center, making the score 2-0.
-The Dominican offense continued to roll, scoring 5 runs on 4 hits in the bottom of the second inning.
- The second inning started with Sophomore Madisen Butler hitting a single back up the middle. The first run of the inning came off the bat of Senior Leilani Guzman on an RBI single to the shortstop. Sophomore Isabella Olmos, the very next batter, hit a 2 RBI triple to center field, scoring Freshman Kendall Parker and Guzman. The Davis sisters brought home the final two runs of the inning, with Rae. Davis singled to center field scoring Olmos. Ry. Davis reached on a fielder's choice that brought home Salfi for a 7-0 lead going into the third inning.
-Sophomore starting pitcher Hannah Richards continued to dominate in the circle getting Alverno to go 9 up and 9 down in the first three innings of play.
-Dominican did not score in the bottom of the third inning, this being the only time in both game DU did not put a run on the board.
-Richards continued to flirt with perfect game getting the Inferno to go in order in the fourth.
-The Stars got back to scoring in the fourth inning by scoring 4 runs on 3 hits, and the help of 2 Alverno errors. After the first two hitters got out for DU Freshman Charlie Harris and Butler each hit singles to put runners on the corners. Parker then reached on an error by the second baseman bringing home Harris. This brought up Amormino who hit a single that got by the center fielder and got to the fence, with Amormino's speed she scored as did Parker and Butler.
-Richards and Dominican took a 11-0 lead to the top of the fifth inning while Richards throwing a perfect game. Richards got the first batters to ground out, the first to Ry Davis at third, and the second to Salfi at shortstop. The sophomore Richards one out away from a perfect game had it broken up by a 2 out double in the top of the fifth inning. Senior Elise Gamino came into the game and earned a strikeout to end the game and clinch a share of the NACC regular season conference championship title.
 
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Hannah Richards threw 4.2 perfect innings while picking up a strikeout and earned her 13th win of the season.
-Senior Elise Gamino struck out the final batter of the game and earned her final strikeout at the Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
-Sophomore Raegyn Davis went 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored with a triple.
-Sophomore Madisen Butler went 2-3 with 2 runs scored.
-Senior Leilani Guzman went 1-2 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored.
-Sophomore Isabella Olmos went 1-2 with a walk, 2 RBIs, a run scored, and a triple.
-Sophomore Kayla Amormino went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Senior Ryley Davis had 2 RBIs.
-Senior Paytin Salfi had 2 walks and 2 runs scored.

Dominican University Softball moves to 25-13 on the season and 19-5 in conference play.
The Stars officially clinched a spot as NACC Regular Season Conference Champions. DU will be back in action Tuesday afternoon, as they travel to Lake Forest College on 4/28/26 for a non-conference game against the Foresters. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
