River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Men's Soccer team started up their season taking on Blackburn College Tuesday afternoon.

How It Happened:
- Sophomore Eduardo Lopez started the game off firing with a shot on goal in the 11th minute, which was saved by the Beavers goalkeeper.
- In the 26th minute, sophomore Enzo Cinque had a low-driven shot in the bottom center, which was saved by the Beavers goalkeeper.
- The Stars pressured Blackburn into receiving two yellow cards in the 29th and 31st minute, which resulted in a DU free kick.
-Both squads went into the break knotted at 0-0. DU held a slight advantage, 7-6.
- DU forced Blackburn to get their third yellow card to start the 2nd period, which gave the Stars an advantage.
- Freshman Cristian Garcia and Senior Tristen Banquil set the tone for the Stars, both having a shot on goal, which gave them momentum.
- Junior Roberto Navarro Mercado held strong for their team with two back-to-back saves.
- DU got on the board thanks to a late goal by Cinque with assists from Lopez and sophomore Josue Villanueva.
- Sophomore Rogelio Cisneros tried to give DU some insurance, but his shot on goal was saved by Blackburn's goalkeeper.
-The Stars were able to keep their lead thanks to another late period save by Mercado.
Shining Stars:
- Sophomore Enzo Cinque scored his first goal of the season in what proved to be the difference maker for the Stars. Cinque also added 2 shots on target.
- Senior Tristen Banquil registered 3 shots with 1 shot on target.
- Freshman Cristian Garcia and sophomore Eduardo Lopez both have 2 shots and 1 shot on target.
- Juniors Travis Fowler and Jonathan Almaguer collected 2 shots each and played all 90 minutes.
- Freshman Alexander Garcia and Junior Roberto Navarro Mercado saved a total of 4 shots combined for the clean sheet.
