River Forest, Ill. – We are in the middle of September, and we are officially back in full swing through Dominican Athletics, with all of our teams having multiple games or meets under their belt.

Men's Soccer continued on with their non-conference schedule with a home match and a road test this past week. In the home match, they hosted Knox College on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Tristen Banquil led the team with a goal and an assist in the 2-1 win over the Prairie Fire. DUMSOC went on the road to Lake Forest, and the Foresters got the best of Dominican, the score being 2-0. The Stars will start their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference schedule by playing MSOE on Wednesday, September 16th at 4:00 p.m. They will then travel to Marian University on Saturday for a 5:00 p.m. match in Fond du Lac.

Women's Soccer was full steam ahead after an incredible start to the 2026 campaign with two non-conference matchups this past week. They hosted the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan on September 9th. The score was tied at 0 at the break, and in the 53rd minute of the match Freshman Kaylie Reeve scored possibly goal of the year from way outside the box that went bar down into the back of the net. The Stars and Titans would draw 1-1, with IWU scoring a goal in the 88th minute. DU then hit the road to the University of Dubuque, conceding in the first half and going into the breakdown 1-0. Senior Meghan Wilhite found the equalizer in the 88th minute, Graduate Student Sierra Rioux earned the assist. DUWSOC will continue their three-match road trip with two conference matches at MSOE on September 16th, at 7:00 p.m., and at Marian University on September 19th, at 2:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball participated in the MSOE Raider Invite this past weekend with 4 matches in Milwaukee. Dominican came out of the tournament going 0-4 with only winning 1 set against Knox College. Sophomore Olivia Pollak has continued to be a highlight of this squad earning 30 assists, 42 digs, and 13 kills through all four matches. DUWVB will be right back in action at the Millikin Invite this upcoming weekend. The Stars will play three matches at Millikin. The first being Friday night, September 18th, at 7:00 p.m. against Franklin College.

Men's and Women's Cross Country was back on the course this past week, participating in the Spartan Classic hosted by Aurora University. Senior Samuel Malke finished top 10 in the race with his time of 30:20.3. Sam and the men's team placed 4th in the team standings as well. Senior Fatima Duran and Freshman Sarah Johnson finished 3 seconds apart from one another, with Duran finishing in 38th and Johnson finishing in 40th. DUXC will be right back on the course this upcoming weekend with the Gill Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College on September 19th.


Stars of the Week for the week of September 7th to September 13th:

Freshman Kaylie Reeve of the Women's Soccer team earned Star of the Week. Reeve showed her skills in front of the home crowd on Wednesday afternoon, scoring a goal from distance in the match at West Campus Field.

Senior Samuel Malke of the Men's Cross-Country team earned Star of the Week for the second straight week. Malke finished in the top ten in the race and brought the DUMXC team to a fourth-place finish in the team result. The senior runner recorded a time of 30:20.3 in the race.
