Decatur, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Volleyball team stayed the night in Decatur for day two of the Millikin Invite.
Match One Results:

How It Happened:
-Sophomore
Olivia Pollak got the Stars going on the right foot, earning a service ace, for the first point of the match.
-The Polar Bears drew out a lead shortly after to an 11-6 lead and coasted to the end of the set, winning 25-12. Freshman
Kaitlyn Stanek earned 3 of the 7 kills in this set.
-Once again Dominican started out with a 2-0 lead, both points off attack errors by ONU.
-DU traded points with Ohio Northern for three straight points and earned kills from Stanek, Junior
Ella Murray, and Senior
Cassandra Thawley.
-Dominican continued to hand tough with Murray tying the set back at 7, but ONU went on a 5-0 run to make it 12-7.
-Senior
Jillian Ross tried to ignite a comeback for the Stars with back-to-back kills, but it was a little too late. The Polar Bears won the set 25-15.
-Ohio Northern continued rolling in the third set, burying DU 25-5 in the third and final set.
Shining Stars:
-Freshman
Kaitlyn Stanek earned 5 kills on 13 attacks, with 1 block.
-Sophomore
Karolina Stonkus earned 3 kills with 3 assists.
-Junior
Ella Murray collected 3 kills in the match.
-Sophomore

How it Happened:
-Big Blue jumped out to a 4-1 lead early but continued that momentum to a 9-3 lead. The three DU points were all off kills. Seniors
Jaylynn Miller and
Jillian Ross and Junior
Ella Murray all had a kill.
-Millikin continued to roll in the set to a 25-12 set, one victory. Murray had two kills in the set.
-Dominican jumped out to a 4-2 set two lead. Miller picked up a kill, while Freshman
Gracelynn Perry earned a service ace.
-The Stars continued to battle tough in this second set, trading points with Millikin, as the score was 13-11 in favor of Big Blue.
-Millikin held a 24-18 lead before DU earned three straight points. Freshman
Kaitlyn Stanek earned a kill in this stretch. Big Blue did win the second set 25-21.
-Miller collected 3 kills in the second set. Millikin had 5 attacking errors in the set.
-Dominican scored 4 straight points to start the third set. Senior
Lily Broderick collected a service ace in this run.
-This 4-0 run ignited a 7-0 Big Blue run that made the score 9-4.
-DU earned back-to-back kills after the Millikin run to try and regain momentum for the Stars. Sophomore
Karolina Stonkus picked up both kills.
-Millikin shut the door quickly, though, as Big Blue won the third and final set 25-12.

Ella Murray collected 5 kills on 17 attempts in the match.
-Senior
Jaylynn Miller added 4 kills and a block in the match.
-Sophomore
Karolina Stonkus earned 7 assists with 2 kills, 1 ace, and 5 digs.
