River Forest, Ill. – Homecoming week is upon us! Dominican athletics have a busy week with everyone in action, and Dominican University Athletics Fifth Annual Day of Giving is currently underway.

Men's Soccer started their conference schedule this past week with a home match and a road contest. In the home match, DU welcomed in MSOE, where the Stars and Raiders battled to a 2-2 draw. Junior Travis Fowler and Sophomore Eduardo Lopez scored for the DUMSOC, with Junior Jonathan Almaguer and Senior Tristen Banquil earning assists on the goals. Dominican went on the road to face Marian in their second conference game of the season and gained some steam, winning 3-0 on the road. Graduate Student Cole Wood scored his first goal in a Stars uniform. Banquil and Eduardo Lopez each scored their second goal of the week in the victory. Banquil assisted on Wood's goal, and Freshman Christian Garcia assisted on Lopez's goal. DUMSOC has two matches this upcoming week, with their first being a road test at Rockford University on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. with the Stars and the Regents. Saturday is homecoming Saturday, and Dominican will welcome in St. Norbert College at 12:00 p.m. for their second match of the week.

Women's Soccer wrapped up a three-match road stint this past week playing at MSOE and Marian. In the MSOE match, the Stars and Raiders were battling to a 0-0 draw until MSOE found the winner in the 89^th minute of the match. Dominican bounced back on the road with win at Marian where they scored three second-half goals. Freshman Kaylie Reeve scored her second goal of the season with Senior Meghan Wilhite assisting on the goal. Wilhite then found the scoresheet twice in the 82^nd and 86^th minute of the match, giving DU a 3-0 win. Freshman Payton Lemich and Junior Presley Coles assisted on Wilhite's goals. DUWSOC will now be at West Campus Field for three straight matches all this week, the first being today at 4:00 p.m. against #18 North Central College. They will then host Rockford University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. for their third conference game of the season. The final match of the week, DU will welcome St. Norbert College for their homecoming match on Saturday afternoon. The kickoff between the Green Knights and Stars is set for 2:45p.m.


Women's Volleyball participated in the Millikin Invite this past weekend, playing in 3 matches down in Decatur, Illinois. Dominican came out of the tournament going 0-3, playing Franklin College, Ohio Northern University, and Millikin University. The Stars got an attack from a bunch of different players this past weekend with Junior Ella Murray, Senior Jaylynn Miller, and Sophomore Karolina Stonkus. DUWVB will have a busy week with 4 matches this week, including their home opener on Thursday night. First DU will travel to Saint Mary's College (IN) on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. EST. Dominican will be in the Igini Sports Forum for the first time this season on Thursday for their first conference match against MSOE with a 7:00 p.m. first serve. In the final matches of the week, DUWVB will head to North Central College for the NCC Tri-Match to play Ripon and North Central on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. first serve.

Men's and Women's Cross Country was back on the course this past week, participating in the Gill Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College on Friday evening. Senior Samuel Malke led the way for the men, finishing with a time of 28:15.20. Freshman Sarah Johnson and Senior Fatima Duran finished top two for the women, finishing with times of 28:41.00 and 29:08.90 respectively. DUXC will have a break before their next meet, being on October 17^th, at the Augustana Interregional Invitational in Rock Island, IL.



Stars of the Week for the week of September 7^th to September 13^th:

Senior Meghan Wilhite of the Women's Soccer team earned Star of the Week. Wilhite was all over the pitch this week scoring 2 goals, assisting on a goal, and earning 4 shots, with 3 shots being on the target.

Senior Tristen Banquil of the Men's Soccer team earned Star of the Week. Banquil has been the motor for this squad, and it paid off this past week with the senior earning 1 goal, 2 assists, 11 shots, and 5 of those shots being on target.
