River Forest, Ill. – We surpassed the craziness of Homecoming and we are officially halfway through the fall, with the month of October coming this week.

Men's Soccer played two matches this past week, both being conference matches for the Stars, where they started 1-0-1 inside the NACC. They played at Rockford University on Wednesday night, where they drew to a 0-0 final on the road. In the second game of the week, Dominican returned to West Campus Field for a homecoming match against the Green Knights of St. Norbert. The Green Knights got the better of the Stars, winning 1-0. Junior Roberto Navarro Mercado earned 4 saves on the week. DUMSOC only has one match this upcoming week, where they will host the Falcons of Concordia Wisconsin, on Wednesday, kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.

Women's Soccer had a busy homecoming week, playing three matches, with one of those matches being against the #18 North Central College at West Campus Field. The Stars and Cardinals played for Pancreatic Cancer in the match. #18 NCC did get the better of Dominican with two second-half goals to win 2-1. Freshman Payton Lemich earned her first collegiate goal in this match. The Stars got back to the conference schedule on Wednesday and Saturday for their other two matches of the week. The first being against Rockford University at West Campus Field. The Stars put up 7 goals and 5 first-half goals. Graduate Student Sierra Rioux (1), Senior Meghan Wilhite (2), Freshman Grace Durante (1), Freshman Chloe Sikora (1), Freshman Khloe Lopez (2) all earned goals in the win. Sikora and Lopez were both collegiate firsts. Women's Soccer kept the momentum rolling into homecoming Saturday with a 4-0 win over St. Nobert College on homecoming. Junior Tia Garr got the scoring going for DU in this one, scoring her second goal of the season. DU scored three second-half goals with Wilhite, Freshman Riley Brooks, and Lopez all scoring in the second half. Brooks's goal being her first collegiate goal. After a busy three-match week, DUWSOC will only play in one match this upcoming week, with that match being at Concordia Wisconsin. The kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. between the Stars and Falcons.

Women's Volleyball continued their season with four matches this past week, including their home opener inside the Igini Sports Forum. In the first match the Stars played at Saint Mary's College (IN.) where the Belles won 3-0. Dominican then played in the Igini Sports Forum for the first time all season, where they gave MSOE everything they had in the first two sets but fell 3-0. In the final two matches of the week, DU went to North Central for the NCC Tri-Match, where they played Ripon and North Central. Dominican fell in both matches 3-0. DUWVB will be back in action this week as they are in the midst of a 6-match road trip. This week they will be at Benedictine University at 6:00 p.m. on October 1^st. Then at North Park University on October 3^rd at 7:00 p.m.

Men's and Women's Cross Country will be back in action on October 17^th at the Augustana Interregional Invitational hosted by Augustana University. 


Stars of the Week for the week of September 22nd to September 27th:

Freshman Khloe Lopez of the Women's Soccer team earned Star of the Week. Lopez showed off this past week for DUWSOC where she scored 3 goals and earned an assist while also recording 4 shots and 3 shots on goal in the two matches she played in.

Junior Roberto Navarro Mercado of the Men's Soccer team earned Star of the Week. Navarro Mercado made 4 saves for the Stars in between the posts in their two matches this past week.
