Men's Soccer Moves Towards Knox on Wednesday

River Forest, Ill.—The Dominican University men's soccer team is refocusing after their last two matches were canceled. The Stars are ready to host Knox College back at West Campus Field.

Series History vs. Knox:
All-Time Record /Streak/: 3-1-0 /L1
-The first time these two schools played was on September 1st, 2021, at West Campus Field. The Stars won 1-0 in the first matchup.
-Dominican is 2-0-0 on their home turf against the Prairie Fire, winning 1-0 and 4-0.
-Knox got their first win in this series last season at Knox, to the score of 1-0.
-The Stars have scored 8 goals and average 2 goals per game against the Prairie Fire. DU have only given up 2 goals to Knox.


DU in Review: 
-Dominican won their first match against Blackburn, making them 1-0-0 on the season.  
-Dominican finished the 2025 season with a 7-8-4 record, including going 7-3-2 in the conference and 5-3-2 at home. 
-The Stars notched the fifth seed in the NACC Tournament and fell on the road at MSOE in the NACC quarterfinal matchup. 
-Head Coach Erick Baumann enters his 32nd season at the helm of the Dominican Men's Soccer program. Baumann has amassed an impressive 470-127-54 (.763) record in that time. Coach Baumann is coming off his first ever losing season as Dominican University men's soccer head coach. 
 
Familiar Faces: 

-Senior Tristen Banquil is back in a Stars kit for his senior season and is looking to make a last impact on the DUMSOC program. Banquil is coming off a season where he played and started in 17 matches while scoring 5 goals on 16 shots on goal in his 1257 minutes. 
-Junior Jonathan Almaguer returns to DU in his third season after having a great sophomore campaign. Almaguer played in 19 matches and started 14 of those matches, while registering 3 goals and 4 assists from the midfield. The junior is looking to improve for a third straight season. 
-Senior Ciaran Geraghty returns as big part of the Stars backline. Geraghty started in 18 matches last season while marking 1620 minutes on the pitch. The senior from Scottsdale, AZ, also logged an assist with six shots over the course of the season. 
-Sophomore Enzo Cinque came on strong for Dominican as a key player off the bench and is looking to solidify a bigger role on this squad. Cinque scored 4 goals on 24 shots in his 18 matches played in his freshman year. 
-Sophomore Rogelio Cisneros stepped up when DU struggled on the offensive side of the ball, scoring 2 goals with 2 assists in his 13 matches played. 
-Sophomore Cody Leyba returns between the posts this upcoming season. Leyba started in 5 matches last season but played in 9. The sophomore made 21 saves and held a 7-1 record in his freshman season. 
 
Last Time Out: 

- Dominican wins after a late goal against Blackburn to win 1-0 at home. 
-Sophomore Enzo Cinque scored his first goal of the season in what proved to be the difference maker for the Stars. Cinque also added 2 shots on target. 
- Senior Tristen Banquil registered 3 shots with 1 shot on target.  
- Freshman Cristian Garcia and sophomore Eduardo Lopez both have 2 shots and 1 shot on target.  
- Juniors Travis Fowler and Jonathan Almaguer collected 2 shots each and played all 90 minutes. 
- Freshman Alexander Garcia and Junior Roberto Navarro Mercado saved a total of 4 shots combined for the clean sheet.  

Scouting Report: 
-Knox College is 1-0-1 to start their 2026 season with a game at Rockford University on September 7th.
-The Prairie Fire beat CUW 3-1 and tied Elmhurst 2-2.
-Knox is 0-0-1 on the road this season but finished 3-3-1 on the road last season.
-Their record last season was 7-5-4 and 3-4-1 inside their conference. They did not make their conference tournament.
-The Prairie Fire scored 22 goals last season with a 1.38 goals-per-game average, while their opponents scored 18 goals last season.
-Knox had 179 shots, with 82 of those shots being on target.
