Milwaukee, Wis - Dominican University Women's Volleyball traveled to Alverno College on Tuesday.

How it Happened:
-Dominican started off strong going back and forth with Alverno. Sophomore Karolina Stonkus picked up 2 kills in the set, but DU lost the first set 11-25.
-The Stars kept it close in the second set with back-to-back kills from Sophomore Olivia Pollak and Freshman Kaitlyn Stanek but DU ended up losing the second set 16-25.
-DU took the lead in the third set thanks to another kill by Pollak. Dominican then went on to have get 5 points straight with a service ace from Junior Fabianna Pizzo and a kill by Senior Jillian Ross.
-Dominican went on another 4-point streak, coming from a kill by Junior Ella Murray and a service ace from Freshman Mawedda Abu-Shukhaidem. The Stars ended up winning the third set 25-21.
-DU started the fourth set strong, getting a 4-0 lead from two errors by Alverno, a kill from Senior Kathryn Ksiezak, and a service ace from Sophomore Taylor Lupton.
-The Stars kept the set close going back and forth with Alverno but was unable to keep the lead and lost the fourth set 21-25.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Karolina Stonkus led her team with 9 kills.
-Sophomore Olivia Pollak notched 7 kills, 16 assists, and 7 digs.
-Freshman Mawedda Abu-Shukhaidem recorded 14 assists in the defeat.
-Junior Fabiana Pizzo and Senior Lily Broderick each collected 7 digs.

What's Next:
Dominican University Women's Volleyball fall to 0-2 on the season. The Stars will be back in action this weekend at the MSOE Raider Invite starting Friday, September 11th where they will face Loras College at 3:00 p.m. and Grinnell College at 7:00 p.m.
