Baseball Slammed By Wheaton

The Dominican University baseball team fell to the Wheaton College Thunder 13-6 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. Senior right-hander Dan Hunoway (Tinley Park, Ill.) took the loss for the Stars, surrendering 10 runs, five earned, in three innings of work.
The big blow for the Thunder was a grand slam by Desmond Cato which capped an eight run outburst for Wheaton in the bottom of the second.
The Thunder added two more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 10-0 lead.
Dominican then cut the Wheaton lead to 10-3 as Lenny Cunzalo (Chicago, Ill.), Chris Anderson (Plainfield, Ill.) and Jesse Bongartz (Peoria, Ill.) ripped back-to-back-to-back doubles off of Tyler Martin, the Thunder starter. The Stars plated two more runs in the top of the fifth to trim to the lead to 10-5.
However, that’s as close as the Stars would get, falling to 3-8 on the year, while Wheaton improves to 7-5. The Stars will return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Crawfordsville, Ind., to take on Wabash College. The Stars then travel to North Park for a Saturday doubleheader before playing their home opener on Monday, March 28, with a 4:00 p.m. game against Carroll College.
