The Dominican University men’s tennis team fell to the Stars’ neighborhood rivals on Thursday afternoon, losing 6-3 to the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action.
Kevin Amarantos (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and
Greg Tabaka (Chicago, Ill.) picked up all three points for the Stars at the top of the lineup earning an 8-1 win over the Cougars’ number one doubles team before each picked up a win in singles action. Amarantos, the Stars’ #1 singles competitor, rolled over the Cougars’ Jeff Smith 6-0, 6-0 while Tabaka topped Nathan Wingfield 7-5, 6-4 at #2 singles.
The Stars now stand at 1-5 on the season and 0-1 in the NAC. Dominican will return to action on Saturday with a pair of NAC dual matches. The Stars will take on the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors at 10:00 a.m. before heading to MSOE to take on the Raiders at 2:00 p.m.
