Baseball Swept To Close Out 2011 Campaign

The Dominican University baseball team closed out the 2011 season on Thursday night, dropping both ends of a twin bill with the Aurora University Spartans. The Stars finish the campaign 9-31, going 6-16 in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play.
The Stars dropped game one to the Spartans 6-4 behind a solid pitching performance from junior left-hander Zach Roszak (South Chicago, Ill.) who falls to 1-7. Roszak tossed his second complete game of the season, surrendering six runs, five earned, on 12 hits and two walks while striking out three over nine innings.
Offensively, the Stars pushed across four runs on six hits, five walks and one error by the Spartans. Chris Anderson (Plainfield, Ill.) went 2-for-3 in the game with a pair of RBIs while Chris Kemp roped a two-run triple in the bottom of the fourth.
The Spartans left little doubt in game two, plating five runs in the top of the third en route to an 18-1 win over the Stars.
Aurora pounded out 18 hits in the ballgame while the Stars managed just four hits, led by Chad Polak (Westchester, Ill.) who went 3-for-3 with three singles and a run scored.
