Six Players Score As Men's Soccer Routs Crusaders

Box Score Six different players scored, including a pair of goals by freshman Ryan Ybarra (Des Plaines, Ill.), as the Dominican University Stars routed the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.  The improves the Stars to 6-1-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play.

The win was the 280th career victory for Erick Baumann, the Stars' head men's soccer coach, coaching in his 365th career match.

Dominican didn't leave much doubt about the match as Edwin Lagunas (Waukegan, Ill.) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in just the third minute.  Edwin Rodriguez (Chicago, Ill.) and Ybarra added scores in the first half to give the Stars a 3-0 lead heading into the second half.  Freshman Marvin Logan (Johnston, Iowa) tallied his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 48th minute and Lio Tovar (Cicero, Ill.) scored in the 53rd minute.  Ybarra and Ivan Chavez (Cicero, Ill.) rounded out the scoring for Dominican.

The Stars ripped 22 shots on the afternoon and surrendered just one to the Crusaders in the winning effort.  Dominican also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Dominican returns to action on Sunday, hosting the Washington University (Mo.) Bears, ranked first in the Central Region in this week's NSCAA regional poll, for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on West Campus Field.
