Stars Fly By Elmhurst Bluejays

Box Score The Dominican University baseball team picked up its third straight victory on Wednesday afternoon, improving to 8-7 on the season, with a 21-4 win over the Elmhurst College Bluejays at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.

The Stars roughed up the Bluejays pitching staff, pounding out 22 hits and scoring in each of the first five innings, including a 10-run third in which the Stars sent 15 hitters to the plate and rapped out 10 hits.

Every Dominican University starter logged a hit on the afternoon, led by Jon Basinski (Chicago Ridge, Ill.) and Richie Green (Chicago, Ill.).  Green and Basinski both went 4-for-5 at the plate with three runs batted in apiece.

Cody Mueller (Addison, Ill.), making his first collegiate start, scattered six hits and one walk over four innings while striking out six and allowed just three earned runs.  However, Mueller took a no-decision as the game was slated for nine innings. David Ershbock (Round Lake Beach, Ill.) was credited with the win as he went two innings, including a perfect fifth.

The Stars will return to action on Saturday, opening Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) as they host the Rockford College Regents for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.
