The Dominican University men's tennis team moved to 3-2 in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) dual matches with a split on Saturday, topping the Lakeland College Muskies 8-1 before falling to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons 8-1 in the nightcap.
Against the Muskies, the Stars swept all three doubles flights, led by an 8-2 victory at number one doubles by the team of
Kevin Amarantos (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and
Greg Tabaka (Chicago, Ill.), who remain unbeaten in NAC play.
Amarantos and Tabaka also cruised to singles victories at numbers one and two singles respectively, while
Alexander Dee (Park Ridge, Ill.) and
Mohit Shekhar (Burbank, Ill.) gathered thrilling three-set wins at numbers three and five singles. Â
Adrian Chavez (Berwyn, Ill.) cruised to a singles win at. Umber six, winning by scores of 6-0, 6-2.
In the nightcap match against the Falcons, the Stars' lone point came from Tabaka and Amarantos at number one doubles, as they moved to 7-1 on the season and a perfect 5-0 in NAC duals.
The Stars return to the courts next Saturday, traveling back up to Wisconsin to take on the Marian University Sabres before battling the Edgewood College Eagles. Â The Stars currently sit in fourth place in the NAC standings, just one game behind Edgewood who is currently in third.
