Stars Fall In Completion Of Suspended Game

Box Score The Dominican University baseball team returned to Benedictine University on Monday evening to finish out game two of the Stars' Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) series with the Eagles, falling 8-5.

Trailing 5-4 when play resumed in the bottom of the fourth, the Stars surrendered an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth to fall behind by two runs.  Richie Green (Chicago, Ill.) knocked in a run for Dominican in the seventh, but the Eagles put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Cody Mueller (Addison Ill.) was tagged with the loss for the Stars, tossing three and a third innings before play was halted on Sunday.  Mueller surrendered five runs, just one earned, on seven hits and four walks while striking out one.  Zack Roszak (South Chicago, Ill.) threw the final four-plus innings on Monday, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks while striking out two.

Offensively, Adam Quinn (Libertyville, Ill.) and Green had two hits apiece but the Stars left ten runners on base.

The loss drops the Stars to 13-15 overall and 5-7 in the NAC.  Dominican will take on IIT in non-conference action on Thursday before returning to NAC play on Saturday, hosting the Edgewood College Eagles for a noon doubleheader.
