The Dominican University duo of
Kevin Amarantos (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and
Greg Tabaka (Chicago, Ill.) at the top of the Stars' men's tennis lineup remained hot, picking up four points on the day as the Stars split a pair of Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) dual matches on Saturday afternoon.
In the morning match, the Stars cruised to a 7-2 win over the Marian University Sabres led by an 8-2 win by Amarantos and Tabaka at number one doubles.  In singles action, Amarantos rolled over the Sabres' Jory Lawson, 6-0, 6-3, at number one singles while Tabaka was met with little resistance at number two singles, knocking off Marian's James Kapolnek, 6-2, 6-2. Alex Dee (Park Ridge, Ill.),
Mohit Shekhar (Burbank, Ill.) and
Adrian Chavez (Berwyn, Ill.) also picked up singles victories for the Stars at numbers three, five and six singles respectively in the winning effort.
In the afternoon tilt, the Stars fell 6-3 to the Edgewood College Eagles, win Tabaka and Amarantos responsible for all the Stars' points. Â The duo improved to a NAC-best 9-1 in doubles play, knocking off Edgewood's Tim Morgan and Michael Wanta, 8-4.
In singles action, Amarantos dominated Cody Strebig, 6-2, 6-1, at number one singles while Tabaka walked over Morgan, 6-1, 6-1.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Stars stand at 5-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Â Dominican will host the Rockford College Regents and the Aurora University Spartans next Saturday in NAC action to close out the regular season.
