The Dominican University men’s tennis team was eliminated from the 2012 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Team Tournament on Monday evening, falling to the Aurora University Spartans in the first round of the six-team tournament, 7-2.
Dominican trailed 2-1 after doubles play, but the Stars’ number one doubles team of
Greg Tabaka (Chicago, Ill.) and
Kevin Amarantos (Arlington Heights, Ill.) avenged their lone loss in conference play, blanking the Spartans Ricky Hernandez and Matt Butler 8-0.
The lone point the Stars could manage in singles play came at the number two singles flight, with Tabaka cruising past Aurora’s Brian Koski.
The Stars end the team portion of the 2011-2012 schedule with a 6-7 mark in duals, going 5-4 in NAC play. The conference individual tournament takes place this weekend, with Tabaka and Amarantos looking to capture the doubles championship after posting a 9-1 record over NAC opponents.
