The Dominican University men’s tennis team split a pair of Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) dual matches on Saturday, topping the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in the morning session, 6-3, before falling to the MSOE Raiders in the afternoon, 7-2.

Efrain Rodriguez (Cicero, Ill.) picked up a critical point for the Stars to seal the victory over the Warriors, dropping the first set 7-6 before rallying to win sets two and three 6-3, 6-2 at number four singles.  Greg Tabaka (Chicago, Ill.), Alex Dee (Park Ridge, Ill.) and Adrian Chavez (Berwyn, Ill.) also logged singles victories for the Stars at the second, third and sixth singles flights respectively.

In doubles actions, the Stars scored victories at numbers one and two doubles with Kevin Amarantos (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Tabaka scoring an 8-2 win and Dee and Rodriguez upending their WLC foes 8-1.

In the afternoon match, Tabaka and Amarantos scored the Stars’ lone point in doubles action, remaining unbeaten in NAC doubles play with an 8-5 win over MSOE’s Juan Montenegro and Eric Klamrowski while Chavez was victorious in singles play with a three-set win at six singles.

Dominican now stands at 3-3 on the season and 2-1 in NAC play.  The Stars return to the courts on Saturday, April 14, traveling to Wisconsin to take on the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons and the Lakeland College Muskies.
