The College Sports Information Directors of America announced the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District softball teams with Dominican University’s #
Sarah Budz# (Orland Park, Ill.) garnering District 7 First Team honors. Budz is now a two-time member of the prestigious team, earning First Team honors in 2011 when she went on to land a spot on the Capital One Academic All-America College Division Second Team.
Having graduated from Dominican University on Saturday with a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Budz needed to maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average while playing with both the softball and women’s basketball team to be eligible for the award.
On the softball diamond, Budz garnered her fourth All-Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) nod after leading the NAC in walks (20) while ranking in the top ten in the conference in runs (32), hits (49), doubles (14), home runs (4), runs batted in (27), total bases (75), stolen bases (15), on-base percentage (.452) and slugging percentage (.564). A career .424, the Orland Park native ranks second on the Stars’ all-time batting average list and runs scored, doubles, triples, home runs, total bases and stolen bases.
As a District 7 First Team Academic All-District selection, Budz will move on the national ballot which will be voted on starting Tuesday, May 8.
