Stars Score Early And Often In NAC Win

Box Score The Dominican University men's soccer team cruised to their 21st straight victory over a Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) opponent, topping the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders 12-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Stars scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 11th minute as Andy Lynch (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) was able to get a head on the end of a corner kick off the foot of Leo Elizalde (Wheeling, Ill.), beating the Crusaders' goalkeeper for his third goal of the season.

The Stars added seven more goals before the end of the first half, including another for Lynch and two each for Ryan Roberts (Elmhurst, Ill.) and Logan Marvin (Johnston, Iowa), the first two of the season for the sophomore.

Dominican ripped 23 shots in the first half, putting 14 on frame, while holding the Crusaders to zero shots.

Nine minutes into the second half, Ryan Ybarra (Des Plaines, Ill.) notched his team-leading sixth goal of the season, followed by a pair of goals from Elizalde, his second and third of the season. Billy Eddy (Gurnee, Ill.) capped the Dominican offensive onslaught, tallying his first goal of the season in the 79th minute.

The Stars' four second half goals came on just six shots as Dominican outshot the Crusaders 29-0.

Marco Alvarez (Aurora, Ill.) set a Dominican University record with six assists in the game..

The win improves the Stars to 5-1-1 on the season and 2-0-0 in NAC play. Dominican will return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Wisconsin Lutheran College to take on the Warriors in conference play.
