Stars Claim Final Spot In NAC Tournament

The Dominican University men’s tennis team claimed the sixth and final spot in the 2013 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Tournament on Saturday with an 8-1 win over the visiting Lakeland College Muskies in the Stars’ final dual match of the 2012-2013 regular season on Saturday afternoon.  The win came after the Stars fell to the NAC front-runners from Concordia University Wisconsin, 7-2, earlier in the day.

Greg Tabaka (Chicago, Ill.) was stellar for the Stars in the final home matches of the senior’s collegiate career, picking up a pair of singles wins and going 2-0 at number one doubles with teammate Kevin Amarantos (Arlington Heights, Ill.).  Tabaka heads into the NAC Tournament having gone 8-1 in NAC play at number two singles while him and Amarantos dropped just one match against a conference opponent at number one doubles.

The Stars, now 4-11 overall and 4-5 in NAC play, will travel to Aurora University to take on the Spartans in round one of the NAC Tournament on Tuesday, April 30.
