Box Score After a perfect outing in game number one of the 2013 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC), the Stars committed a pair of errors behind starting pitcher Emily Mahoney (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and the Stars' ace was tagged for seven runs, five earned, in an 8-0 loss to the Benedictine University Eagles.

Benedictine's Kailee Cable ripped a solo home run in the bottom of the first as the Eagles pushed across one run in each of the first three innings to open a 3-0 lead. After Mahoney tossed a 1-2-3 fourth, the Stars failed to capitalize on a leadoff single off the bat of Melissa Summaria (Algonquin, Ill.), bouncing into an inning-ending double play.

Benedictine carried that momentum into the bottom of the fifth, capitalizing on a Dominican error, plating four runs in the frame to open a 7-0 lead after five innings.

Allie Evans (Greenwood, Ind.) lined a lead off double into the gap in left-center to lead off the top of the sixth for the Stars but was stranded at third after a two-out single by Jessica Wood (West Chicago, Ill.) left runners at the corners for Dominican.

Benedictine then closed out the game in the bottom half of the inning after Ashley Parrott lined a lead off double through the box and later scored on another Dominican error.

The loss pushes the Stars into the losers' bracket of the NAC Tournament where they will resume play tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. against neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago.
