Stars Swept By Muskies

Box Score The Dominican University men's volleyball team suffered a three-set loss at the hands of the Lakeland College Muskies (25-18, 25-20, 25-16) Friday afternoon in the Igini Sports Forum.

The Stars managed to hit just .012 against the more experienced Muskies that featured five upperclassmen, two sophomores and just one freshman in their rotation.  Lakeland managed just six total blocks on 82 swings for the Stars, but tipped nearly every ball at the net and logged 39 digs in the three-set match.

Jeremy Royko (Naperville, Ill.) led the Stars with ten total points on seven kills, two solo blocks and two block assists.

For the Muskies, it was the combo of junior Alec Redlich and senior Brett Kaczmarek that proved too much for Dominican to handle, posting 14 kills apiece while Tyler Boyce led the Muskies, who hit .258 for the match, with a .316 attack percentage on 19 swings.

The Stars were scheduled to be back on the court on Saturday when Missouri Baptist came to River Forest, but the match has been cancelled due to a forecast calling for anywhere from six to nine inches of snow in the Chicagoland area.  The Stars, now 2-5 on the season, will be back in action on Saturday, February 8, when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, for their first taste of the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC).  The Stars will face Cairn and Marymount universities on Saturday before closing out the CVC Crossover against Thiel College on Sunday.
