Box Score The Dominican University men's volleyball team made its first-ever trip to the east coast, opening the trip with a three-set (25-18, 25-10, 25-23) win over the Bard College Raptors.

The Stars opened leads of 10-2 and 11-3 in the first and second sets respectively cruising to a 2-0 lead before the host Raptors could get going.

In the deciding set, Dominican opened a 4-0 lead but the Stars found themselves trailing 11-10 after a service error. Dominican answered with four straight points to climb back in front 14-11. Bard clawed back, evening the score at 21-21 and 23-23 before the Stars closed out the win with back-to-back blocks.

The Stars finished the match with 14.5 total blocks, led by
Aidan Spangler (Western Springs, Ill.) who had a hand in ten total blocks with nine block assists and one solo block.

On offense, the Stars played without the services of
Zachery Sinn (Winfield, Ill.) and
Alex Coyne (Naperville, Ill.) who lead Dominican in kills and assists respectively. While
Joe Marchese (Orland Park, Ill.) and
David DeMarco (Downers Grove, Ill.) shared setting responsibilities, posting 21 and 14 assists apiece,
Jeremy Royko (Naperville, Ill.) and
Charlie Spry (Barrington, Ill.) picked up the offensive slack with nine and seven kills respectively. Spry hit an efficient .500 with no errors on 14 total attempts while Spangler and fellow middle
Mason Solbrig (Lake Villa, Ill.) combined for 11 kills on 16 total swings with just one error.

In total, the Stars hit .400 for the match while holding the Raptors to .011 attack percentage.

The Stars are back in action on Sunday, traveling to New Paltz, N.Y., to take on Vassar College and top-ranked SUNY New Paltz. Dominican will then close out the New York road trip on Tuesday against #15 NYU and #7 Stevens.
